!e Law
“O how love I thy law! it is my meditation
all the day. Thou through thy commandments
hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for
            they are ever with me.”
             (Psalms 119: 97)
Introduction

The Law of God is eternal & has always been

It proceeds from the throne of God

It did NOT begin with Moses

It did NOT end at the crucifixion of Christ

Despite these facts, many say that you are no longer
required to obey the laws of God

This presentation will dispel this myth

In the beginning...
Adam & Eve were created in the image
of God

The Lord commanded them not to eat
of the Tree of the Knowledge of
Good & Evil

Adam & Eve broke this commandment

After disobeying God, sin & death
corrupted their flesh & all people
born after them

From that point on, the deeds of
humankind became sinful

What Exactly is sin
So what is sin?.....it is the
transgression or breaking of
God’s law

It is like a cancer that quickly
spreads until it completely
destroys its host if allowed

As people multiplied on this
earth, sin did indeed spread & at
vast levels

When Did the law begin?
There is a misconception that the Law
of God began during the time of
Moses

This statement is NOT true & here’s
why....

It is evident in the bible that people
were living in sin long before Moses
was even born

We can even look at the time of Noah,
when God destroyed practically all
living things because of their
wickedness

The law was established
  from the beginning
So how could God deem these people
to be wicked if there was no law to
judge them with?

That is because the Law was
established from the beginning

The people born before Moses knew
God & the Law but most disobeyed him
anyway

The law & the
          nation of israel
During the time of Moses, the children
of Israel became a great nation after
430 years of captivity in Egypt

God established a covenant with Israel
and gave unto them his holy laws

Moses often communed with God face
to face and went up to Mount Sinai
where he received the 10
commandments on 2 tables of stone

It was NOT Moses that wrote the
commandments but the LORD

The law came directly
    from the mouth of god
The law was so binding to all people in
every generation, that God did not
speak it into Moses’ ear and command
Moses to tell the people

God spoke the words of the Ten
Commandments directly to the people
so that they would know that these
were the commandments of God & not
the law of man

The children of Israel heard the voice
of God in a way that no one had heard
it before, and in a way that no one has
heard it since

Is the law
          null & void?
So why is the law so despised today?

Why is it rejected, particularly by
those who call themselves
religious leaders?

Did Christ make the law null and
void?

NO HE DID NOT

The law remains
God did not do away with the
law

Christ magnified it and
demonstrated it to us by his
life, showing us how to keep
it perfectly

Throughout the entire
bible, both old & new
testaments, it speaks of
keeping the law

Scriptures
supporting the law
“If ye love me, keep my commandments,”(St.
John 14: 15)

“The Lord is well pleased for his righteousness
sake: he will magnify the law and make it
honorable,”(Isaiah 43: 20)

“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father
which is in heaven is perfect,”(Matthew 5:
48)

Scriptures
supporting the law
For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law
in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should
make them known to their children. That the generation to
come might know them, even the children which should be
born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the
works of God, but keep his commandments:

                          (Psalms 78: 5-7)

Scriptures often
        misunderstood
There are scriptures in the bible that can be misconstrued to
have a different meaning if one does not review them closely

“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under
   grace” (Romans 6: 14)

When looking at this scripture it may leave one with the
impression that you do not have to keep the commandments of
God because we have been granted grace

In the same chapter the Apostle Paul also stated this....

“What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
(Romans 6: 15)”

Scriptures often
       misunderstood
Given that sin is defined as the transgression of the commandments
it would seem that Apostle Paul is contradicting himself; however,
this is not the case
Paul’s writings were inspired by the Holy Spirit but are often
difficult to understand
There are three laws that Paul would discuss in his teachings
Sacrificial Law - the law of sacrificing & offering of animals during the Levitical Priesthood

Law of Sin & Death - Eternal death & condemnation if you commit a sin (“The soul that sinneth
  shall die...”) (Romans 8: 2)

Law of the Spirit of Life -this law commands us to walk under the guidance of the Holy Spirit who
will teach us to obey the 1o commandments & abstain from the works of the flesh, which is sin
  (Romans 8: 2)
Paul would often state ‘the law’ without specifying which law he
was referring to in his writings

Grace & the Law
So which law was Paul referring to with the scripture
below?.....

“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under
  grace” (Romans 6: 14)

He was referring to the Law of Sin & Death

Since the sin of Adam & Eve, ALL of us were born in sin

If we were still under the Law of Sin & Death we would ALL die
the eternal death & there would be no hope for us

By being under grace, God has granted us TIME & an
OPPORTUNITY to seek & obey his commandments so that we can
gain eternal life & escape eternal damnation

All humankind are
   required to obey
Every human being is required to
obey the 10 commandments,
whether jew or gentile

Our adherence to the law will
determine if we will gain salvation

We can not pick and choose which
commandment we want to obey

If you transgress one then you
transgress them all
(James 2: 10-11)

The 4th
         Commandment
There is one of the Ten
Commandments that is particularly
despised, and that is rejected almost
uniformly by the religious system
today

It is the fourth commandment

To justify their tradition of Sunday
worship, and their sacrilege
regarding the Sabbath day, they
teach all people that the law is no
longer binding

Man says

Man says that all you have to do
to be saved is to love your
brother, believe in God and accept
Christ as your personal savior

This is viewed to be the more
acceptable and comfortable way
to live life and is believed by
most self professed christians

God says
Matthew 5:17-18 “Think not that I am
come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not
come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto
you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one
tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be
fulfilled.”

Revelations 22:13-14 “I am Alpha and
Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the
last. Blessed are they that do his commandments,
that they may have a right to the tree of life, and
may enter in through the gates into the city.”

In Closing
If we are to say that we love god.....or that we
are christians then we must obey the law as
christ instructed us to

We should not take hold of the popular beliefs
of this world that often contradict the gospel
of christ if we want to be saved

Seek god and read the scriptures yourself that
you may learn what the real truth is concerning
god & his holy law
