As an Advocate
(1961-1981) Advocate & Expert in Taxation Law and Financial Management. During his stint as a lawyer, he successfully disposed of over 10000 civil, sales tax and wealth tax cases.
As an Author
Prolific writer with 19 books and several articles to his credit. His publications are reputed for their unprecedented scope and referral value among the reputed judges of Supreme Court, High Court and judiciary. As an Entrepreneur
Director of IEC Education & Infrastructure Ltd. IEC Learning & Management Ltd Sai Infracon Pvt. Ltd. & IEC Leasing and Capital Management Ltd. . Started off as the founder and promoter of Indian Education Center (IEC) in 1981 with one student, one Computer and one Centre, an IT Education with Conglomerate and since then hold various positions within the Company.
As a Philanthropist
He actively participates in charitable activities and donates money for the betterment of underprivileged children. He always involved in the help of weaker section of society. Sponsored free education and marriage of poor girl child. He always encouraged a strong sense of social awareness and a spirit of giving back to the community amongst all its employees. • Establishment of Vocational Education Foundation, a nonprofit society in 1989 which began its work with an illiteracy elimination campaign in the districts of Ghaziabad, Mathura, Hisar and Sonepat, conducting around 150 vocational programs and benefiting 50,000 villagers. • Charitable activities organized by IEC every year including Blood donation Camps, charity for underprivileged children of the city etc. Besides this, the Group gives donations to several temples.
A s a Politician
In 1979 for the improvement of Society and social work he was also nominated in Parliament Elections from Chandni Chowk Constituency of Old Delhi.
An Educationist
After practicing law for 20 long years, he quit his job to make his dream of ‘a society free from ignorance and empowered by education’ a reality. Mr. R.L Gupta , being a visionary started his Indian Education Center to make computer education easily and affordably accessible to all sections of society. India Education Centre (IEC) took upon the corporate character on 23rd August 1994 after being incorporated as India Education Centre Limited.
In 1999, under his able leadership, IEC stepped into the formal sector of education and set up IEC College of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida. Since then it has set many other Colleges in different disciplines which later on were amalgamated and today it is a Group of Institutions recognized by both AICTE and PCI.

In year 1994 with aim of expansion it was corporatized and India Education Centre Ltd. was founded later named IEC Softwares Ltd. and now IEC Education Ltd.
