RECAP OF YESTERDAY’S LESSON

{AA 164.1}
To neglect or despise those whom God has appointed to
bear the responsibilities of leadership in connection with
the advancement of the truth, is to reject the means that
He has ordained for the help, encouragement, and
strength of His people…The Lord in His wisdom has
arranged that by means of the close relationship that
should be maintained by all believers, Christian shall be
united to Christian and church to church. Thus the human
instrumentality will be enabled to co-operate with the
divine. Every agency will be subordinate to the Holy Spirit,
and all the believers will be united in an organized and
well-directed effort to give to the world the glad tidings of
the grace of God.
Don’t Despise The Leadership

{AA 110.2}
It is fatal mistake to suppose that the work of soul-
saving depends alone upon the ministry. The humble,
consecrated believer upon whom the Master of the
vineyard places a burden for souls is to be given
encouragement by the men upon whom the Lord has
laid larger responsibilities. Those who stand as leaders
in the church of God are to realize that the Saviour's
commission is given to all who believe in His name. God
will send forth into His vineyard many who have not
been dedicated to the ministry by the laying on of
hands.

Mark 16:15
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and
preach the gospel to every creature.
Matthew 28:19-20
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and
of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all
things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I
am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
Amen.
The Gospel Commission

{AA 105.3}
Among those to whom the Saviour had given the
commission, "Go ye therefore, and teach all
nations" (Matthew 28:19), were many from the
humbler walks of life--men and women who had
learned to love their Lord and who had
determined to follow His example of unselfish
service. To these lowly ones, as well as to the
disciples who had been with the Saviour during
His earthly ministry, had been given a precious
trust. They were to carry to the world the glad
tidings of salvation through Christ.

The Saviour's commission to the disciples included
all the believers. It includes all believers in Christ to
the end of time. It is a fatal mistake to suppose that
the work of saving souls depends alone on the
ordained minister. All to whom the heavenly
inspiration has come are put in trust with the gospel.
All who receive the life of Christ are ordained to
work for the salvation of their fellow men. For this
work the church was established, and all who
take upon themselves its sacred vows are thereby
pledged to be co-workers with Christ

The Three Angels Message

And I saw another

to every nation, and

God has called His church in this day, as He called
ancient Israel, to stand as a light in the earth. By the
mighty cleaver of truth, the messages of the first,
second, and third angels, He has separated them
from the churches and from the world to bring them
into a sacred nearness to Himself. He has made them
the depositaries of His law and has committed to
them the great truths of prophecy for this time. Like
the holy oracles committed to ancient Israel, these
are a sacred trust to be communicated to the world.
The Three Angels Message

In a special sense Seventh-day Adventists have
been set in the world as watchmen and light
bearers. To them has been entrusted the last
warning for a perishing world. On them is
shining wonderful light from the word of God.
They have been given a work of the most
solemn import--the proclamation of the first,
second, and third angels' messages. There is no
other work of so great importance. They are to
allow nothing else to absorb their attention.

1 Timothy 3:15
But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how
thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of
God, which is the church of the living God, the
pillar and ground of the truth.
Hebrews 3:6
But Christ as a son over his own house; whose
house are we, if we hold fast the confidence
and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the
end.

For we are labourers together with God: ye are

To whom coming, as unto a living stone,
disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God,

God could have reached His object in
saving sinners without our aid; but in
order for us to develop a character like
Christ's, we must share in His work. In
order to enter into His joy,--the joy of
seeing souls redeemed by His
sacrifice,--we must participate in His
labors for their redemption.

As His representatives among men, Christ does
not choose angels who have never fallen, but
human beings, men of like passions with those
they seek to save. Christ took upon Himself
humanity, that He might reach humanity.
Divinity needed humanity; for it required both
the divine and the human to bring salvation to
the world. Divinity needed humanity, that
humanity might afford a channel of
communication between God and man.

Ministers of The Gospel

In order to manifest the character of God, in
order that we may not deceive ourselves,
the church, and the world by a counterfeit
Christianity, we must become personally
acquainted with God. If we have fellowship
with God, we are His ministers, though we
may never preach to a congregation. We are
workers together with God in presenting the
perfection of His character in humanity.

Closing Thoughts (1)
Both Men and Women
can possess any of the
Gift of the Holy Spirit
and thus be a Minister
of the Gospel.

Closing Thoughts (2)
The Leaders of the Church are
chosen from among the
congregation by following rules
set down in the Bible (1 Timothy 3, Titus
1:5-9). Since the elders and deacons
should be “husband of one wife”
(1 Tim 3:2,12), therefore a woman
cannot be an elder or a deacon in
the church.
