What Does Financial Peace Mean?

- n. a condition where one does not have to
continuously worry about their ability to meet their
financial obligations; they have financial peace
- adj. a position where one is financially set; that
couple has a financial peace mindset
- n. a financial position that allows one to pursue doing
exactly what they were made to do regardless of its
income potential; because he has financial peace, he is
able to pursue his dream of being a major league
baseball player even though he never even played high
school or college baseball.

When we attach peace to money we give the
wrong impression.
Namely, that if we have enough money, we will
have peace.
There are benefits to money but money does
not provide peace.
We might as well say, “Health Peace” or some
equivalent phrase.








He who loves money will not be satisfied with
money, nor he who loves wealth with his
income; this also is vanity (Ecclesiastes 5:10).

For the love of money is the root of all evil:
which while some coveted after, they have
erred from the faith, and pierced themselves
through with many sorrows (1 Timothy 6:10).





And he told them a parable, saying, "The land of
a rich man produced plentifully, and he thought
to himself, 'What shall I do, for I have nowhere to
store my crops?' And he said, 'I will do this: I will
tear down my barns and build larger ones, and
there I will store all my grain and my goods.
And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample
goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink,
be merry.' But God said to him, 'Fool! This night
your soul is required of you, and the things you
have prepared, whose will they be?
(Luke 12:16-20)





Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.
Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for
riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away
as an eagle toward heaven (Proverbs 23:4-5).
Charge them that are rich in this present world, that
they be not highminded, nor have their hope set on
the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who giveth us
richly all things to enjoy; that they do good, that they
be rich in good works, that they be ready to
distribute, willing to communicate; laying up in store
for themselves a good foundation against the time to
come, that they may lay hold on the life which is life
indeed (1 Timothy 6:17-19).





Better to be lowly and have a servant than to
play the great man and lack bread
(Proverbs 12:9).

One pretends to be rich, yet has nothing;
another pretends to be poor, yet has great
wealth (Proverbs 13:7).





For the protection of wisdom is like the
protection of money, and the advantage of
knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life
of him who has it (Ecclesiastes 7:12).
Bread is made for laughter, and wine
gladdens life, and money answers everything
(Ecclesiastes 10:19).





A wife judging her husbands worth based on
the size of his wallet, is equal to a husband
judging his wife’s worth based on the size of
her waist.
And he said to them, "Take care, and be on
your guard against all covetousness, for one's
life does not consist in the abundance of his
possessions“ (Luke 12:15).



One who is wise is cautious and turns away
from evil, but a fool is reckless and careless.
(Proverbs 14:16).





Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but
whoever gathers little by little will increase it.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a
desire fulfilled is a tree of life
(Proverbs 13:11-12).



What is that to thee. . .?



We don’t compare ourselves by ourselves . . .



Don’t compare your spouse.
Don’t compare your money.
Don’t compare your house.



Your marriage is yours!




Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit,
but righteousness delivers from death
(Pro 10:2).
A false balance is an abomination to the LORD,
but a just weight is his delight (Pro 11:1).
The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one
who sows righteousness gets a sure reward.
(Pro 11:18).

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be
still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will
increase in learning. The fear of the LORD is
the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge
of the Holy One is insight (Proverbs 9:9-10).

The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower
is the slave of the lender (Proverbs 22:7).





And the lord commended the unjust steward,
because he had done wisely: for the children of
this world are in their generation wiser than the
children of light. And I say unto you, Make to
yourselves friends of the mammon of
unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may
receive you into everlasting habitations.
He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful
also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is
unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been
faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will
commit to your trust the true riches?
(Luke 16:8-11).

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will
also reap sparingly, and whoever sows
bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one
must give as he has decided in his heart, not
reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a
cheerful giver.
 And God is able to make all grace abound to you,
so that having all sufficiency in all things at all
times, you may abound in every good work.
As it is written, "He has distributed freely, he has
given to the poor; his righteousness endures
forever."


(2 Corinthians 9:6-9).



A good man leaves an inheritance to his
children's children, but the sinner's wealth is
laid up for the righteous

(Proverbs 13:22).





Now there is great gain in godliness with
contentment, for we brought nothing into the
world, and we cannot take anything out of the
world. But if we have food and clothing, with
these we will be content (1 Timothy 6:6-8).

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I
have learned in whatever situation I am to be
content. I know how to be brought low, and I
know how to abound. In any and every
circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing
plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do
all things through him who strengthens me
(Philippians 4:11-13).

A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of
the diligent makes rich. He who gathers in
summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in
harvest is a son who brings shame
(Prov 10:4-5).

But if anyone does not provide for his relatives,
and especially for members of his household,
he has denied the faith and is worse than an
unbeliever (1 Timothy 5:8).
Providing for one’s family is a priority.
We have to earn money to provide.

He answered, "Have you not read that he who
created them from the beginning made them
male and female, and said, 'Therefore a man
shall leave his father and his mother and hold
fast to his wife, and the two shall become one
flesh'? So they are no longer two but one flesh.
What therefore God has joined together, let not
man separate."
(Matthew 19:4-6)

An excellent wife who can find? She is far more
precious than jewels. The heart of her husband
trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain
(Prov 31:10-11).
She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit
of her hands she plants a vineyard (Prov 31:16).

But keep both parties aware of what’s going on.

And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and
after that comes judgment (Heb 9:27).
So teach us to number our days that we may get a
heart of wisdom (Psalm 90:12).

There is no peace in fighting everyday about money.

Wrong is wrong, but no one enjoys being blamed.

Ignorance is not bliss and ignoring financial
matters never makes them better.

The only certain way to peace is together.

When you reach this step, you’ll have no
payments—except the house—and a fully
funded emergency fund. Now it’s time to get
serious about building wealth.

College funding for children
By this point, you should have already started
Baby Step 4—investing 15% of your income—
before saving for college. Whether you are
saving for you or your child to go to college,
you need to start now.





Pay off home early
Now it’s time to begin chunking all of
your extra money toward the mortgage.
You are getting closer to realizing the
dream of a life with no house payments.

Build wealth and give!
It’s time to build wealth and give like never before.
Leave an inheritance for future generations, and bless
others now with your excess. It's really the only way to
live!

“You can’t shake hands with a clenched fist.”

Vow to never hold your money so tightly that you
never give any away. Hoarding money is not the
way to wealth. Save for yourself, save for your
family’s future, and be gracious enough to bless
others. You can do all three at the same time.

The Problems Are Deeper

Lack of self control.
Using money to fill other voids.
Having money often masks problems, not
having it often reveals them.

Better to be lowly and have a servant than to
play the great man and lack bread (Pro 12:9).
Better is a little with the fear of the LORD than
great treasure and trouble with it.
Better is a dinner of herbs where love is than a
fattened ox and hatred with it (Pro 15:16-17) .

Better is a little with righteousness than great
revenues with injustice (Pro 16:8).

Better is a dry morsel with quiet than a house
full of feasting with strife (Pro 17:1).

What is desired in a man is steadfast love, and
a poor man is better than a liar (Pro 19:22).
Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity
than a rich man who is crooked in his ways (Pro
28:6).
The blessing of the LORD makes rich, and he
adds no sorrow with it (Pro 10:22).

And the peace of God, which passeth all
understanding shall keep your hearts and
minds through Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:7).
