Why must Christ return?
2 reasons
I. Christ must
prove he is
King (19:11-
16).
Jesus will return as the Righteous
Judge (19:11-12).
"Then I saw heaven opened, and a white
horse was standing there. Its rider was named
Faithful and True, for he judges fairly and
wages a righteous war" (19:11 NLT).
"His eyes were
like flames of
fire, and on his
head were
many crowns.
A name was
written on him
that no one
understood
except himself"
(19:12 NLT).
Jesus will
return to fulfill
God’s Word
(19:13).
"He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his title
was the Word of God" (19:13 NLT).
Jesus will return as the
Commander of Heaven’s Armies:
"The armies of heaven, dressed in
the finest of pure white linen, followed him
on white horses" (19:14 NLT).
Jesus will return as
the Ruling King
(19:15-16) .
"From his mouth came a sharp sword to
strike down the nations. He will rule them with
an iron rod. He will release the fierce wrath of
God, the Almighty, like juice flowing from a
winepress" (19:15 NLT).
417
"On his robe at
his thigh was
written this title:
King of all kings
and Lord of all
lords"
(19:16 NLT).

Bird Feast
"Then I saw an angel
standing in the sun,
shouting to the vultures
flying high in the sky: 'Come!
Gather together for the great
banquet God has prepared'"
(19:17 NLT).
Bird Feast
"Come and eat the flesh of kings, generals,
and strong warriors; of horses and their
riders; and of all humanity, both free and
slave, small and great" (19:18 NLT).
Armies
Gathered
"Then I saw the beast and the kings of the
world and their armies gathered together to
fight against the one sitting on the horse and
his army" (19:19 NLT).

and his false prophet
were thrown alive into the
fiery lake of burning
sulfur" (19:20 NLT).
The Army Killed & Eaten
"Their entire army was killed
by the sharp sword that
came from the mouth of the
one riding the white horse.
And the vultures all gorged
themselves on the dead
bodies" (19:21 NLT).

Christ’s ultimate rule and power
in your own life today?
Life's Most Important Question:
What Will You Do With Jesus?
Yes No ?
Is Jesus God made man?
Did Jesus die for your sins? Did Jesus rise
from the dead? Are you trusting in Jesus?
Did Jesus give you eternal life? Will Jesus

Figurative or Literal?
455
Is the New Jerusalem
the Church?
New Jerusalem = The Church?
The city is described as a "bride beautifully
dressed for her husband" (21:2; see also vv.
9-10). Since the term "bride" often refers to
the church (Isa. 54:5; Eph. 5:32; etc.), it would
seem so here too (Hendriksen, 199). "Even in
the Old Testament the Church is represented
under the symbolism of a city (Isa. 26:1; Ps.
48; etc.)" (Hendriksen, 199).
