God's Commandment to Repent Acts 3:19-21 19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, 20 and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, 21 whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.

Repent ● We hear the word often in sermons. ● Clearly Jesus and the apostles preached that repentance was important – necessary. ● Question: ● What does true repentance involve?
1 – A Change of Mind ● Matthew 21:28-29 28 "But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, 'Son, go, work today in my vineyard.' 29 He answered and said, 'I will not,' but afterward he regretted it and went.
1 – A Change of Mind ● Original word means - “a change of mind” ● Wake up to reality ● See things as they are ● Recognize the error of your way
2 – Godly Sorrow ● Psalm 38:18 For I will declare my iniquity; I will be in anguish over my sin. ● Luke 10:13 "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
2 – Godly Sorrow ● There must be regret, remorse ● 2 Corinthians 7:9-10 9 Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces
3 – Confession of Sin ● Luke 15:18-21 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, 19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. 4 – Forsaking of Sin ● Proverbs 28:13 He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. ● Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.
5 – Turning to God ● Acts 26:18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.'
