CAT Sermon: October 22, 2006

A testimony is meant to express how and why one lives according to God. It honors God, reminds us of his goodness, and encourages others. An effective testimony is built upon what Christ has done for us and continues to focus on Jesus. It is important for believers to understand key truths about God's love, man's sinfulness, Christ's payment for sin, salvation as a gift, and having eternal life through receiving Jesus. One's testimony should be updated daily to reflect their current understanding of what God has revealed.

BASICS OF OUR JOURNEY Question What is your testimony? A testimony is words that best express how and why you live.
BASICS OF OUR JOURNEY WHY GIVE A TESTIMONY? 1)It honors the Father 2)It reminds us of His goodness 3)It speaks power and truth into other people's lives.
BASICS OF OUR JOURNEY Out testimonies must be built upon what Christ did for us, in us, and through us. “ For he made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteosness of God in Him.”
BASICS OF OUR JOURNEY Our testimonies must be rooted in our understanding of God's ultimate intention: “ For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things to whom be glory forever.”
BASICS OF OUR JOURNEY In other words........ Our testimony begins with Jesus, and continues forever with Jesus.
BASICS OF OUR JOURNEY What to know concerning your testimony God's love is revealed (John 3:16) Man is sinful (Romans 3:23) Sin has a penalty (Romans 6:23) Christ paid the penalty (Romans 5:8)
