A new purpose

1. God directs the lives of his creatures and everyone's life finds its purpose in him. 2. Everything was created by God and finds its purpose in him. Obsession with self leads to a dead end, while attention to God leads to freedom. 3. Even though Paul was in chains, he was able to use his circumstances to advance the gospel and encourage others to speak God's word more courageously. Finding purpose in God allows us to make the most of any situation.

A NEW PURPOSE
Job 12:10 (TEV) 10 It is God who directs the lives of his creatures; everyone's life is in his power.
Colossians 1:16 (MSG) 16 For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels—everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him.
Romans 8:6 (MSG) 6 Obsession with self in these matters is a dead end; attention to God leads us out into the open, into a spacious, free life.
Philippians 1:12-14 (NIV) 12 Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel. 13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. 14 Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly.
