Independent Film Industries Reinforce The Global Construction Of The Hybrid Genre
Almost every country has its own film industry. Films are being produced across the world, from the
low budget gangster films of Britain s Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Australia s Chopper
to the French art cinema of L aventura and the German action offering of Run Lola Run . This is of
course to exclude America. Hollywood is the center of the global film industry and it can be
considered impossible to gain international superstardom without passing through its coiffured gates.
What is it that separates Hollywood from the rest of the world? Is Hollywood the culmination of

This Saussurian[2] idea, that meaning of one thing can change by its surrounding text, can be
identified within the Romantic Comedy genre. In British RomComs such as Jack and Sarah a grainy
filter is used on the camera to add a gritty realism and lead characters are often faulted and possibly
not as beautiful as their Hollywood counterparts in, say, Jerry Maguire where glossy superstars who
are destined to be together discover their love in expensive settings, such as the recreated American
Football game in Jerry Maguire . These differing conventions from separate film industries are still
considered part of the RomCom genre.
A possible explanation of this could be their different target audiences. British audiences can relate to
clumsy, embarrassed lead characters falling in love in the rain as this is considered typically British .
Such stereotypes reveal the structuralist nature of society. Balanced narratives and order do not exist
in real life. In the same vein, nationality does not dictate personality. Yet media has developed such
indexical representations i.e. clumsy is a sign of British (Hugh Grant in Four Weddings and a Funeral
and Notting Hill ), and implanted them in film. These intrinsic meanings, as Bazin[3] articulated,
allow for rapid communication of meaning. Equally, the American audience has an array of TV
channels, including the big budget

Manslaughter In Criminal Law Essay
4.1.2. Manslaughter
Causing death by negligence is punishable by imprisonment of up to two years, a fine, or both. Other
crimes similar to manslaughter include punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder,
addressed in S. 304 of the Indian Penal Code:
Whoever commits culpable homicide not amounting to murder shall be punished with imprisonment
for life, or imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also
be liable to fine, if the act by which the death is caused is done with the intention of causing death, or

It is true that sentencing is not like baking a cake; you cannot lay down in advance, for every case, the
exact ingredients and proportions, the exact temperature required... In sentencing, courts are not
dealing with standards and ingredients but with an infinite variety of offences, offenders and
situations. Nevertheless, there ought to be some definite criteria to decide the sentence. Taking a lead
in this direction, the Federal Authorities in U.S.A. established sentencing Institutes in 1957 to impart
some sort of training for magistrates in matters of sentencing. Sentencing Councils are also set up in
USA to discuss the problem of sentencing and adopting a uniform policy on judicial sentencing. In
England, vigorous efforts have been made by Lord Chief Justice ever since 1970 to ascertain definite
principles of sentencing. The length of the prison sentence is usually commensurate with the
seriousness of the offence as provided under the Criminal Justice Act, 1991. S.2(2) of the Act further
empowers the court to imprison a person convicted of a violent or sexual offence for longer than the
seriousness of the case requires, but not exceeding the maximum in any case. Another Act passed by
the British Parliament, namely, the Crime (Sentences) Act, 1997 has removed the provision of
remission from the penal code. In order to provide safeguard against the arbitrary use of judicial
discretion, efforts are being made to introduce computerized sentencing system ever since

Laboratory of Neural Systems, Decision Science, Learning and Memory (NSDSLM), also known as
the Mizumori lab, seeks to understand the plasticity mechanisms within neural systems that underlie
normal and pathological mnemonic functions. The principal investigator of this lab, and my primary
research mentor is Dr. Sheri Mizumori. Upon joining the Mizumori lab, I have been shadowing Dr.
Phillip Baker on his postdoctoral research project. He introduced me to laboratory research study and
facilitated in the progressive improvement of my comprehension in basic neuroscience research.
The initial study that I began working on with Dr. Baker was about lateral habenula s (LHb)
involvement in behavior switching when presented with a cue. The LHb is a structure identified for its
role in signaling negative outcomes or cues (Bomberg Martin et al, 2011; Proulex et al, 2014). It
projects to dopaminergic, serotoninergic, and norepinephrine systems that are acknowledged to be
important when switches in behavior are required (Robbins and Arnsten, 2009; Lecourtier and Kelly,
2007). My responsibilities in this study mainly included handling and training rats, recording of rat
behaviors through a series of sensors and robotic doors around the T maze controlled by z basic, and
evaluating data from training and testing rats in a tonal task. I also had an opportunity to contribute to

Essay on Pleasures of Eating

The Pleasures of Eating Summary and Response
In The Pleasures of Eating Wendell Berry wants the reader to recognize that eating is a cultural act. He
believes we are eaters not consumers and that we should have more knowledge about the food we eat.
Berry wants the reader to questions where the food is coming from, what condition is it produced in
and what chemicals may it contains. He has found that the food industries blind us to what we are
consuming and the effect it has on us. At last Berry believes that we must eat responsibly to live free.
Berry first begins with eating as an agricultural act. We think of food as an agricultural product rather
than think of ourselves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like any politics it involves our freedom. By giving someone else the control we, neglect to
understand that we cannot be free unless our food is free (Berry 232).
Our food wars a much make up as actors (Berry 232). Berry expresses that the food industry wants
little to do with our health but more to do with volume and price of their product. As scales increase,
diversity declines when this happens so does health. From there the dependence on drugs and
chemicals becomes necessary. Food advertising leads up to believe that what we eat is good, tasty,
healthy and guaranteed to give us a long life (Berry 233).
Industrialism is a trap. Berry believes how to escape this trap is to recognize the food problem as a
whole and how eating is inescapable. In order to participate in the agricultural act you must;
participate in food productions, prepare your own food, learn your foods origin, cut the middle man
when you buy, learn about industrial food companies, good farming and gardening and learn from
observation and experience. Berry takes pleasure in eating meat from non suffering non farm raised
animals. As well as, fruits and vegetables that lived a plentiful life. He believes eating should be an
extensive pleasure and the more we participate in agriculture and gain knowledge the more we live,
free from mystery, from creatures we

Draenei Race
In the World of Warcraft unit, my group has chosen to be the Draenei race. This race is an extremely
tall class, standing at an astonishing eight feet tall. The female version of the Draenei character is
around 7 ½ feet tall. The Draenei race is an octopus human hybrid type race, with plenty of classes to
use in the actual game. They have long tails and hooves, according to the World of Warcraft Wiki
page. They also have fangs. Their skin color is mainly blue, and their blood is also blue.
According to the World of Warcraft Official Beginner s Guide, the Draenei race has quite the
intriguing story. Draenei are devoted to magic. They are intelligent and spiritual, who have fled two
planets, Argus and then Outland. They have an evil threat after them as well; the Burning Legion. This

What Is The Similarities Between Old Major And Lenin
Of the many things that can be compared between Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution, one of
the most significant similarities is characters. One of the many allegories is Old Major and Vladimir
Lenin. Vladimir Lenin was born on April 10th, 1870. He was born into a wealthy family and early in
his life, his brother was executed for trying to kill Czar Alexander the 3rd in a bombing plot. This
event eventually led him to becoming a Marxist. One of the main things that Lenin is known for is
being one of the founding fathers of Communism and for being the leader of the Bolshevik Party. The
Bolshevik Party was established during the Russian Revolution to overtake the Provisional
Government because of their inability to keep up with their commitments to the Russian citizens.

These situations are very similar being that both figures had attempted shots fired at them while or
shortly after giving a message to their people. The last resemblance between Old Major and Lenin is
that they both had either part or all of their body preserved after death. In Animal Farm, Old Major s
skull was put on display and the animals on the farm had to pass by it daily. The skull of old Major,
now clean of flesh, had been disinterred from the orchard and set up on a stump at the foot of the
flagstaff, beside the gun. After the hoisting of the flag, the animals were required to file past the skull
in a reverent manner before entering the barn (Orwell Another parallel between Animal Farm and the
Russian Revolution is Napolean to Joseph Stalin. Joseph Stalin was born on December 21, 1879. He

The Editing Of Little Miss Sunshine
The editing of Little Miss Sunshine is presented very smoothly. The montage introduces us to the six
main characters and shows us a glimpse into each one s life. This is effective in communicating to the
audience by allowing them to feel a part of each characters life and quickly provide a backstory of
each character. The film also presents some creative juxtapositions in the editing. The opening credits
of the film is when the montage begins. We start by seeing Olive (Abigail Breslin) watching a beauty
pageant, the scene then cuts to show her father Richard (Greg Kinnear) presenting his nine steps. Next
is her brother Dwayne (Paul Dano), then her grandpa Edwin (Alan Arkin) doing cocaine and her
mother Sheryl (Toni Collette) smoking a cigarette.

The Genovese Crime Family was formed in 1892 in the Bronx and East Harlem. Originally named the

The Contributions Of Thomas Jefferson
Our country was made upon the most rebellious, intelligent, and competent individuals who saw the
wrongdoings in their authoritative enforcers; however, there was a red haired Virginian who was less
than intimidating yet more literate and educated; he was credited for driving the nail in our retaliation
against Britain s lack of representation against the colonists. This man s name was Thomas Jefferson,
a historical figure who wasn t expected to accomplish much based on his modesty; however, he
achieved so many successful pursuits in which the most notable contributions will be included in the
following main points: His general background/upbringings which allowed him to gain success, his
most notable contributions to the United States, and how those contributions were and still are
significant. All these milestones obliged me to choose him as one of my favorite founding fathers.
Along with relevance and key structure, Thomas Jefferson s background will be discussed

The aim of McDonald s is to serve good food in a friendly and fun environment and to provide good
returns to their share holders. So the purpose of McDonald s is to satisfy their customer with high
quality of food, quick service and value for money.

A plc has more chance to become successfully. The company produce goods at lower unit cost and has
bulk purchasing and cheaper borrowing.
Another advantage of a franchise is that you use a recognized business name and reputation also the
franchise benefit from advertising or promoting. The franchise has to share all the profit with the
franchisor while Tesco which is a public limited company have to share their profit between a great
numbers of people. Shares can be advertised and sold through the stock exchange. Another advantage
of a public limited company it has more chance to become successful because they have thousand
people who working for it, with many skills, idea and experiences. Franchisee is different from a
public limited company has it is dependent on the franchisor skills. If the franchisor goes out of
business or gets a bad reputation, this will cause problems in the business.
One of the key similarities between these two types of ownership is liability. The franchise and public
limited company have limited liability. This means protections of their shareholder from losing their
personal finances if the company goes bankrupt. If the company fail they only lose their invested
money in the business. If business wants to become a limited liability can it be complicated and
expensive to set the business, decisions can take longer and it takes a lot of legal requirements.
McDonald s is a large company because it is run as a franchise so

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Psychotic Depression
Psychotic depression, or psychosis, is a mental state of false believes, known as delusions, or false
sights or sounds, known as hallucinations. This type is usually not associated with depression, but
about 20% of people diagnosed with depression have severe episodes where the person can see or hear
things that are not really there. (Lliades, 2015) The symptoms of psychotic depression can possibly be
agitation, anxiety, constipation, hypochondria, insomnia, physical immobility, intellectual impairment,
and delusions or hallucinations. These are the most common symptoms for people suffering.
(Goldberg, 2014, August 21) The cause of this is when a person has a subtype of major depression that
occurs when a severe depressive illness includes another form of psychosis. The psychosis can be
hallucinations, delusions, or some other break from reality. (Goldberg, 2014, August 21) The diagnosis
can be diagnosed by a doctor like all other types of depression. Also, other illnesses will be ruled out,
including the other depression types. Treatment for psychotic depression is usually recommended by
the doctor to be given in the hospital setting. This way the patient can be closely monitored by the
health professions. A variety of medications are used to stabilize the person s mood. The medications
typically include antidepressants along with antipsychotic medicine. These affect neurotransmitters
that allow communication between nerve cells in the brain that regulate our ability to

High and low angle shots can be a extremely effective technique if filmed correctly. Using these
techniques can create more dramatic, intense scenes that might not be as effective if using different
angle shots. Consider the scene where Karen lingers above Henry with a gun pointing at his head. This
is a good example of how low angle and high angle shots work alongside each other. For instance, in
the high angle shot of Karen, she is in the position of dominance. While the gun helps, the angle
shows Karen above Henry not only in a physical manner but visually as well. Because of the angle
Scorsese uses, Karen appears to have total dominance and control over the situation while reducing
Henry s power that he has established throughout the film. On the other hand, Henry is viewed from a
low angle shot with the gun pointed at his end. The position of the low camera angle shows Henry in a
helpless, defenseless manner with no clear positive outcome. The angle portrays Karen as a big,
overpowering presence as Henry is viewed as scared and vulnerable. Scorsese does a fantastic job
with manipulating angles and developing certain feelings from viewing these

Analysis Of The Poem Lorena By Lucille Clifton
Though out this class I learned a lot, I never really read much poetry and did not realize how much
meaning poems can have. I am glad that we read so many different types and styles of poems and
books. It really helped me get a well rounded understanding of poetry. My favorite unit was the
collection unit. The other poems we read taught me a lot about the other topics we touched on as well.
Before this class I never really gave poetry much thought, this class opened up my eyes to how
important poetry really is. The poem that stood out to me the most from the speaker, and narrative vs
lyric unit was Lorena by Lucille Clifton. I really enjoyed this poem and it made it easy for me to
understand the concept of speakers. Lucille Clifton wrote the poem, but wrote it about a experience
Lorena Bobbit went through. It was hard for me to understand how a poem could have a speaker other
then the author but this one made me see how sometimes the author is not necessarily the speaker. I
thought about/authority and how it always insisted/on itself (pg. 57, 2 4). These lines contain the
phrase I , but when Clifton uses the phrase I , she herself is not the individual, Lorena Bobbit is meant
to be the speaker. This poem was a narrative, it told a story about the even Lorena actually lived
through. It really stood out to me a lot and helped me understand the concept on a deeper level. The
poem that stood out to me the most from the imagery and figurative logic unit was Women by

On The Beach By Nevil Shute
In Nevil Shute s novel On the Beach, the world is quickly and quietly ending. The novel follows the
last months of the lives of the last people on Earth as a cloud of radiation moves closer to their homes
in Melbourne. The characters each cope with their inevitable demise in a different way: Moira
Davidson resorts to alcoholism, Dwight Towers is in denial, John Osbourne indulges in material
goods, and Peter Holmes tries to make the most of the time he has left with his family. Despite their
dissimilar coping strategies and the horror of the situation, however, not a single character does a thing
to save themselves or their families. No one theorizes a way to beat the radiation, no one devises a last
minute escape plan, and no one tries to keep humanity from going extinct. In his article, Tom Feller
asserts that whether it is truly a realistic portrayal of humanity s reaction to the apocalypse isn t the
point; instead, Shute s portrayal of the end times as calm and docile is what gives the novel such
forcefulness and emotion. Feller s claim that the novel s potency comes from Shute s detached voice
and unimaginative characters is proven by the characters reluctance to react to their fates, the sparse
description, and the reserved tone of the book overall. First of all, Shute refrains from inserting his
own political opinion or ideas on the demise of humanity, which allows more room for the readers to

This may partly be a consequence of the fact that the standard technique for general anesthesia is
endotracheal intubation. 6 Since prone positioning increases the risk of airway compromise,
anesthesiologists may prefer secure airway establishment with endotracheal intubation. 5 Another
reason could be that surgeons are able to perform longer operations using general anesthesia or that
there is greater patient acceptance and comfort. 15 Though these considerations should definitely be
taken into account, the health, efficiency, and cost benefits of spinal anesthesia cannot be ignored.
As with any retrospective study, the strength of the conclusions presented in this study are limited by
the potential for selection bias. We did employ a multivariate regression analysis to control for
possible cofounding variables, but recognize that we could not identify and account for all factors that
may have influenced cost. It should also be emphasized that regional variations in surgical care and
cost exist, which implies that our conclusions may not be applicable to other institutions. 19 These
limitations would be overcome with future prospective randomized controlled studies at various

Compare And Contrast Social Gospel And Social Darwinism
Compare and Contrast Social Darwinism and Social Gospel
Social Darwinism is based on Charles Darwins thoery of natural evalution. They based a persons
fitness off of weath, social status, and property. Poor poeple were seen as lazy, and less fit to survive.
They decided that anyone could have a good work ethic, intelligence, and perserverance. Supported
the idea of goverment policies should not regulate the market place or atempt social reform. Social
Darwinism was also used by Andrew Caenagie and other Industrialists to support thier business

Hurricane Research Papers
Several ships recorded hurricane force winds and pressures as low as 968 mbar (28.6 inHg), though
none entered the eye of the hurricane and sampled the lowest pressure in the storm. The system
produced winds of 54 mph (87 km/h) on Bermuda as it passed very close to that island.[1] About this
time, five ocean liners near each other encountered the storm; some portholes on the Orca were
damaged and 15 passengers were treated for cuts, bruises, and contusions.[5] Off Nova Scotia, the
cyclone produced an unspecified number of casualties,[6] including the sinking of the schooners
Sylvia Mosher and Sadie Knickle. Five people died and one other person was injured after the
Norwegian steamer Ringhord capsized near Scatarie Island. One person also drowned after the Edith
Newhall sunk. Many other boats and ships in and near Nova Scotia capsized or ran aground, including

done to improve mitigation prior to the hurricane in August 1927. In Nova Scotia, the families of the

Graduation Speech At Virginia Commonwealth University

Discoveries (LEAD), were are expected to complete eighty hours of service over the course of two
academic school years. Each semester VCU LEAD students are required to complete twenty hours of
service, ten community engagement hours and ten leadership hours. I believe that having a
requirement of participation hours pushes students to get involved on VCU s campus and the greater
Richmond area, introduces time management, as well as influences them to reflect on their new found
experiences. During this fall semester, I have had the privilege of volunteering with the local youth of
Richmond. In one encounter, I spent time creating a safe environment for kids to enjoy the Halloween
festivities. Throughout the Living Learning Program (LLP) week in October, I decided to volunteer
my services to the ASPiRE LLP. On October 28th, 2016 from three thirty till five thirty I participated
in the Halloween Party. Before all the children arrived from Caver Elementary, I helped other ASPiRE
students decorate the hallways with cobwebs, created obstacles courses for relay races, as well as
helped to hang festive banners and signs. Once the kids came to the West Grace South Residence
Center, I spent most of my time at the face painting station. Since most of the students came straight
from school, a lot of them did not have Halloween costumes. I really enjoyed making the kids into

Analysis Of A. Philip Randolph s Brotherhood Of Sleeping...
On the surface, A. Philip Randolph s Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters (BSCP) was fighting for
union recognition and changing the pay system from tip based to living wage based in 1926.
Underneath this, was a desire to separate blacks from the status of servant. The Pullman porters of the
era were perceived by the BSCP and Randolph as either slacker porters who relied on tips,
musicianship, and the paternalism of rich whites, or manly men who were willing to demand job
dignity, fair pay, and representation. The rhetoric of slacker porters and manly men was in response to
the vast racist misinterpretation that belittled specifically black itinerant musicians, but was geared
towards all black workers regardless of their given profession. This belittlement can be seen through
the ubiquitous caricatures maligning the work ethic, intelligence, and humanity... [that was] specific
to... musical entertainment . This imagery depicted black musicians as stock characters used by racist
whites to represent black laziness, immaturity, primitivism, and lack of manliness, but these
interpretations were only a part of a larger accumulation of racist misinterpretations that affected all
blacks. For Randolph, the similarities of mobility, tip taking, the need to endear oneself to customers
between porters who relied on tips for ends meet, some even going through the trouble of learning
musicianship in order to boost their tip income and black wanderlust musicians

We learned how to read and understand financial reports allowing us to determine what areas interact
and how to balance the effects of decisions. We were able to learn hot to pick out the important
variables in business reports to examine our results in comparison to other teams. General Advice It is
now very clear to us that you cannot run a business half heartedly. Clear, good decisions cannot be
made at the last minute; time and energy must be put into every decision in order to do well in the
business world. One of the most important lessons learned was never to assume you ve won before the
simulation is over. We possessed the highest shareholder value for all rollovers except the final round.
Our placement dropped to fourth in the final round as a result of poor allocation of funds due to the
assumption that we couldn t be beat. When the simulation began, we felt confident in our team s
vision, goals, and strategic plan. After the first rollover, we quickly became aware that the success of a
company relies heavily on the dynamics of the market. The strategic decisions of competitors weigh
heavily on the overall direction of a company. Our original plan quickly became obsolete in the
tumultuous bike industry, and we were forced to re evaluate our competitive positioning. To this end,

Basic Concept Of Ballet
The Basic Concepts
A. Definition of a Classical Ballet Company based on the History of Ballet.
To define what in this research is considered as a classical ballet company, first the terms ballet and
classical ballet have to be determined. As classical ballet encompasses a wide range of ballet genres
wherein the classical technique is applied, a definition of romantic ballet, white ballet, neoclassical
and contemporary ballet is appropriate. To come to a clear definition and classification of the different
genres, mentioning their historical evolution is inevitable.
To distinguish classical ballet from contemporary or modern dance, the latest will briefly be described
in this chapter as well.

Already the dances from the sixteenth and early seventeenth century were denominated as ballet, the

Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament
Matthew is the first Gospel in the New Testament and is often considered to be the bridge between the
Old Testament and the New Testament. It was once thought to have been the first written Gospel
because of it being placed before all others, but that belief is not widely held (Hahn, n.d.). Just like
much of the rest of the Bible, no one is truly sure who the author or authors of the Gospel of Matthew
really were (Hahn, n.d.). While is it generally thought that Matthew, one of the Apostles of Jesus, was
the author of the Gospel of Matthew the only clear historical data that we have to substantiate this
comes from the Bishop of Hierapolis(BLB, n.d). Papias was the Bishop in Phrygia around the 2nd
century who collected information concerning the bible through oral methods. Because of this, there is
some doubt as to the credibility of the Bishop s sources ( Papias , n.d)
Matthew is known also as Levi in the bible and was often called Matthew, the tax collector ( Matthew
, n.d.). Matthew was called on by Jesus when he was seen at a tax collection booth and was told to join
by Jesus (Matthew 9:9). It was at this point that Matthew left his position as a tax collector, or
publican, to become an Apostle of Jesus Christ. It is believed that Matthew was the fifth of the twelve
original disciples of Jesus which can be ascertained by reading the beginning of the Gospel of
Matthew and in it, chapter four describes how Jesus walk through the land asking those he chose to

Speech On Importance Of A Seat Belt
The Importance of a Seat belt There are many factors that are included in a vehicle to keep everyone
safe. One of these, is the seat belt. Safety comes first when someone gets in a vehicle. Seat belts save
the lives of many people everyday. When seat belts were invented, they were put into every vehicle to
keep people from flying out a window when involved in a wreck. There are statistics that show that
wearing a seat belt decreases the possibility of being injured to the point of death.
A seat belt is a long strap attached to a car seat, this tool was designed to keep the passenger in place
when in a collision. According to, Traffic with a smile, Today, the seat belt serves to protect drivers
and passengers from injury during any type of collision. Tnsafety.org says, More than 50% of vehicle
occupants killed in crashes in Tennessee were not wearing seat belts. There are many people that die
everyday, because they had a collision and were not wearing a seatbelt.
The seat belt is neatly made up of many materials such as polyester, fiber materials and coating
materials. It is woven this way so that the passenger will feel comfortable when wearing a seatbelt.
According to TAKATA, The width of the webbing is about 48mm and has a tensile strength sufficient
to support approximately three metric tons. The seat belt is built to support any height, body structure,
and weight. To make the seat belt move it has a built in retractor. The retractor helps it move

Analysis of Financila Position of Tesco Plc.
Investment decisions companies make today will have a direct impact on their ability to reach
financial objectives. Most companies are faced with questions such as: which projects should your
company invest in, which returns are needed and what risks are the company willing to take to achieve
company goals? This paper will explain what is, and how to calculate a weighted average cost of
capital of Tesco Plc based on company s balance sheet1 and cash flow statement.2 The second part
will focus on a report on the Tesco s cash flow over the two year period starting in 2005. In the last
part essay will explain what discount rate Tesco Plc. should use when deciding on major investment

WACC is calculated by multiplying the cost of each capital component by its proportional weight and
then summing:
WACC = ke We + kd Wd
Where kd cost of debt ke cost of equity
Wd weight of debt Vd / (Vd + Ve )
We weight of equity Ve / (Vd + Ve )
Data for Tesco is:
Debt £4,509 million
Cost of debt 5.376%
Weight of debt 4,509 / (4,509 + 9 444) = 0.3231
Equity £9 444 million
Cost of equity 8.306%
Weight of equity 9 444 / (4,509 + 9 444) = 0.6768
WACC = 8.306% x 0.6768+5.376% x 0.3231
WACC = 7.4407%
Tesco s weighted average cost of capital is 7.44%, this means that if the company takes on an
investment with return lesser than that figure it will make a loss. Not being able to cover costs of
financing will force shareholders to look for value elsewhere, consequently forcing them to look for
returns in different company.

In the short story Casey At The Bat the author uses humor to tell the story. I think the author does it to
explain the depth and meaning of the story. The author makes it where we expect something totally
different then what`s about to happen. Also I think the author uses it to tell the story better. I think this
because in the beginning of the story all the people were excited because Casey was coming up to bat
like they were screaming his name and everything. So that makes the reader think he`s a big deal
because everyone is going crazy when Casey steps up to the plate. So the first to balls that were

Is Cannibalism Is Wrong
Now through the analysis of the scripture it is made clear that cannibalism is an abomination to God,
and that the ones who have part taken in this have been cursed. In other words, the Catholic Church
did follow the teachings of the Bible, and had a basis to expunge such practice. Another interpretation
one could get from the passage is that it is parallel to that of the indigenous people. Both the Israelites
and the indigenous people both had their temples and idols torn down and destroyed. Which biblically
shows that when people do commit the abomination of cannibalism then it is the right thing to do to
turn away from that sin and turn back to God.
However, this is not the only change the Roman Catholic Church made. Smith also said native deities
were replaced by Christian saints, (Smith, 1). This can easily be interpreted as instead of the
indigenous people worshiping their gods as they were already doing, the Church just shifted their
worship to the saints. Which biblically is still wrong, because this goes against the very first
commandment which reads, 6 I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt,
from the house of bondage. 7 Thou shalt have none other gods before me. (Due. 5, 6 7). Although the

The quests that they embarked on were very similar and had similar outcomes. Both the heroes went
on quests to save people from an oppressive monster. Lancelot saved the people of Corbenic from a
dragon which was attacking their kingdom, and Theseus saved the people of Athens from the
Minotaur who needed to be fed with Athenian sacrifices. To solve these problems, they each used their
talents, swordsmanship and wrestling. Lancelot used his superior talents with his shield and sword. He
was said to use his shield to dodge the flames of the dragon, from which the town s people ran from,
and confidently sung blow with his sword till he defeated the dragon. On the contrary, Theseus won
by using his impressive wrestling skills. He grabbed the Minotaur by its horns, and threw it to the
ground, before he beat it to death with his fists. Moreover, they both were very successful in their
endeavor. Lancelot defeated the dragon with seeming ease, and the people of Corbenic celebrated him
because of it. Theseus also defeated the Minotaur with ease, and the Athenians celebrated him for it.
The difference between the heroes is how they were celebrated. Lancelot had a feast was held in his
honour. The feast lead to another line of story surrounding a highly sought after item presented to him,
the Holy Grail. Theseus, alternatively, was celebrated by the fellow captives, and eventually
