Trunk muscle endurance
Balance
Aim of the study
Assessment of relationship between
trunk muscle endurance with static and
dynamic balance in female college
students
Materials & Methods
Participants
• 33 female college students studying under west
bengal state university
• Static balance was measured using single leg
stance test
• Dynamic balance was measured using SEBT
• Trunk muscle endurance was assessed using
the Sorensen test of trunk extensor, flexor and
side bridge endurance test.
Inclusion Criteria
Female college students
Age: 19-23 years
Height: 152.45 - 157.65 cms
Weight: 42.1 - 52.7 kg
Data Analysis
A Pearson’s product moment correlation was
applied to test if trunk muscle endurance
correlates with static and dynamic balance.
SPSS software 20.0.0 was used.
Level of significance was set at 0.05 level.
Result
Analysis of co-efficient of correlation of
trunk muscle endurance with static and
dynamic balance
Discussion and
Conclusion
Long term athletic training on balance
Trunk muscles activation
The study states significant relationship
of trunk muscle endurance with static
and dynamic balance.

Abstract
Conclusion is not given
Introduction
Background of the study is not given
No citations have been mentioned
Reliability & Validity of the Trunk muscle
endurance tests has not been
mentioned
How much are the Balance tests reliable
is not mentioned
Methods
Exclusion criteria not mentioned
Detailed procedure of the tests performed is not
given
Materials used in the study are not mentioned
Single leg stance
• Procedure of the test performed is not mentioned
• Which leg was tested is not mentioned because data
is given only for one leg
• Eyes open or close
SEBT
• Materials used in study are not
mentioned
• Procedure of the test performed is not
given.
• Citation of the test performed is not
given
• No mention about the limb length
measurements
• If any trials were given
Trunk Muscle Endurance Test
• Methodology of the test is not mentioned
• Materials used in the test are not mentioned
• Citation of the test they have performed is not given , also
the reference of the test given, does not match with the
pictures
• Trunk extensor test - Iliac crest level, hand placement,
trunk need to be horizontal and parallel to the ground
which does not match with the standard procedure.
• Trunk flexor test - Picture does not align with the
standard procedure.
- Head is not in a neutral position
- Hand placement
• Side Bridge Test - Picture does not
align with the standard procedure.
- The upper arm should be resting along
the side of the body or across the chest to
the opposite shoulder
- Calculation of the endurance is
questionable
Statistical Analysis &
Result
Table 1.0 shows a significant correlation
between the Trunk muscle endurance
and the static and Dynamic balance,
but how strong is the correlation(mild,
moderate, strong) is not mentioned.
No other tests and data are given.
Tables & Diagram
The subtitles of the Picture 2,3 do not
match with the picture given
Discussion and
Conclusion
There is no proper connecting correlation
given between the muscle endurance and
balance
Long Term athletic training improves
proprioception and balance, (doesn’t
explain the importance of trunk muscle
endurance training on balance)
Not discussed how much strong the
correlation is and how the balance
improvement takes place by the trunk
Limitations
Not given
Reference
Reference-text and text-reference
correlation has not been maintained.
