• This course is designed to enhance the knowledge,
skills and desirable attitudes in ORGANIC
AGRICULTURE PRODUCTION NCII in accordance
with industry standards. It covers the core
competencies in organic production of Chicken,
Vegetables, Fertilizers, Various Concoctions, Pigs
and Small Ruminant.

C. CORE COMPETENCIES
Produce Organic Fertilizers
• This covers the knowledge, skills and attitudes required
to produce organic fertilizers which include tasks such as
preparing composting area and raw materials and
carrying-out composting activities and finally, harvesting
of fertilizer.
Produce Organic Concoctions and Extracts
• This covers the knowledge, skills and attitudes required
to produce organic concoctions and extracts for owned
farm consumptions and not for commercial purposes or
selling.
C. CORE COMPETENCIES
Produce Organic Vegetables
• This covers the knowledge, skills and attitudes required
to establish nursery, plant seedlings, perform plant
care and perform harvest and post-harvest
Raise Organic Chicken
• This covers the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to
raise organic chicken efficiently and effectively. It includes
selecting healthy stocks, determine suitable chicken house
requirements, install cage equipment, feed chicken, manage
health and growth of chicken and harvesting activities.
D. ELECTIVE COMPETENCIES
Raise Organic Hogs
• This covers the ability to carry-out knowledge, skills and
attitudes required in raising organic hogs.
Raise Organic Small Ruminants
• This covers the ability to carry-out knowledge, skills and
attitudes required in raising organic small ruminants
GRADING SYSTEM AND CERTIFICATION
Written test
• This type of test is therefore a must in the evaluation. It
is
recommended that the passing score for the written test
is 80% of the total test items.
Demonstration and questioning
• This method allows you to set the procedures of the
performance test, the time allotment and the
assessment activities so that all the criteria in the
evidence plan will be observed.
CERTIFICATION
• Each competency passed in the assessment is equivalent
to a Certificate of Competency (COC)
• If all core and Elective competencies are passed, the
candidate will be deemed “competent” and will be
awarded with the National Certificate (NC) II
• However, if the candidate failed on one or more
competency, the candidate will be given a COC for every
competency passed but no NC will be issued and will be
deemed “not yet competent” he/she may be re-assessed.

TYPES OF ORGANIC CERTIFICATION
1st party certification- product is certified by the
farmer and is sold within the locality
2nd party certification- product is certified by
the consumer and is sold within the locality
3rd party certification- product is certified by DA-
accredited private entities and is sold outside the
locality.

• Nicert- Negros Island Certification
• OCCP- Organic Certification Center of the
Philippines
CERTIFICATION FEES
• Ranges from 20K to 65K pesos
• Validity: 12 months to 18 months
• Huge sum but you can avail of the
government subsidy
PENALTY FOR MISLABELING
“ORGANIKUNO”
•Imprisonment- 1 month to 6 months
•Fine- P50,000
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ORGANIC
AGRICULTURE
Length of Crop Conversion Period
• Annual crops: at least 12 months before the start of the
production cycle;
• Perennials: at least 18 months of management
THE REQUIRED CONVERSION PERIOD MAY BE REDUCED
FOR THE FOLLOWING
CONDITIONS:
• Land which have not been cultivated for the past 3 years,
including lands used as pasture and timberland
• Areas practicing traditional agricultural practices, which fulfill the
requirements of this standard; these areas shall be verified
through reliable means and sources. In such cases, inspection
shall be carried out at least 6 months before the first harvest;
• Farms practicing organic agriculture for at least 18 months; these
areas shall be verified through reliable means and sources. In
such cases, inspection shall be carried out at least 6 months
before the first harvest;
No conversion period is required in the case of non-cultivated land.
These areas are not being exposed to prohibited inputs for a
minimum of 3 years.
PROLONGED CONVERSION/TRANSITION
PERIOD
• Lands that have been heavily treated with
synthetic chemicals shall undergo conversion
for a minimum of 3 years before the start of
the production cycle.
