Introduction to Internet of
Things :
• The term internet of things (IOT) was developed in 1999 by the
computer
scientist Kevin Ashton.
• The internet of things is a network of interrelated devices that
connect and
exchange data with other IOT devices and the cloud.
• It refers to the collective network of connected devices and the
technology that facilities communication between devices and
cloud.
• Examples:
• Refrigerators, smart TVs, smart watches
• And cooling systems and trackers.
Why do we use
IOT:
• Enables machines to complete tasks without human
intervention.
• Environmental Monitoring.
• Safety and Security.
• Environmental Sustainability.
• Data Collection and Analysis .
APPLICATIONS OF IOT:
Smart Cities:
IOT applications have made urban planning and infrastructure
maintenance
more efficient . Increasing profits through efficient parking management.
Health Care:
Medical institutions use connected devices throughout their
care delivery process with any of those devices specifically
designed to monitor patient with their health conditions.
Smart Agriculture:
This can be done by first collecting data for a farm such as soil
quality, sunlight levels, seed type, and rainfall density fromlocal
weather stations and then IOT uses this data to optimize planting
procedure, irrigation levels required.
Smart Vehicles:
These vehicles are to communicate such as the sensors
that handlenavigation,
Introduction of Wireless Communication
Technologies:
•Wireless communication is the transfer of information
between two or more points without the use of an electrical
conductor or physical wire.
• Used for both long and short distances.
• Examples:
• Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity),
• Bluetooth,
• Satellite Communication,
• Internet of Things (IoT) Technologies.
Types of wireless communication
technologies
BLUETOOTH:
Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communication technology that
enables data exchange between devices over short distances. It's
commonly used in like headphones, speakers, keyboards, mice,
smartphones, and IoT devices.
Wi-Fi: A wireless technology that provides high-speed internet access and
network connectivity.
Cellular Communication: A wireless technology that uses cellular
networks to
provide voice and data services.
Satellite communications: Satellite communications refers to the use of
artificial satellites to transmit and receive signals for communication
purposes.
Microwave communication: Microwave communication involves the use
of high- frequency radio waves to transmit information between two
points. These radio waves, known as microwaves.
Introduction Of
sensors
• A sensor is a device that detects events or changes in its
environment and sends the information.
• The output signals correspond to some forms of electrical signal ,
such as current or voltage.
• A sensor converts the signal into an analog or digital representation
of the input signal.
• Sensors detect and measure many different conditions.
Advantages of
sensors
• Accuracy, low cost, and high performance.
• Accelerate processes and make them more accurate.
• Collect data and asset data in real time.
• Monitor processes and assets accurately, reliably, and
continuously.
• Increase productivity and
• Lower energy wastage.
Types of
sensors
Temperature
Sensors:
These sensors measure temperature variations and
are widely used in thermostats, weather stations, and
industrial processes.
Smoke
Sensors:
It have protected our homes and businesses for a long
time with improvements based on
IoT.
Gyroscope Sensors:
A gyroscope sensor measures
the angular rate or velocity,
Introduction of actuators
• An actuator converts such an input signal into the required form of
mechanical energy.
• The output is always mechanical energy.
• Electric motors, stepper motors, jack crews ,electric muscular ,
stimulation in robots etc, are the examples.
Usual components that are part of the
functioning of an actuator:
• Power source: This provides the energy input that is necessary to drive
the actuator. These are often electric or fluid in nature in the industrial
sectors.
• Power converter: The role of the power converter is to supply power
from the source to the actuator in accordance with the measurements
set by the controller. Hydraulic proportional valves and electrical
inverters are examples of power converters in industrial systems.

• Mechanical load: The energy converted by the actuator is usually used
to make a mechanical device function. The mechanical load refers to
this mechanical system that is being driven by the actuator.
IOT using blink mobile
platform
• Blink is a platform with IOS and android apps to control arduino ,
Raspberry
pi, and the like over the internet.
• The Blink mobile platform allows you to easily connect and
control various
IoT devices using your smartphone.
• Blynk is a low-code IoT software platform for businesses and
developers.

wires
[Link] 1K
Steps to be followed IOT using blink mobile
platform
• Installing the A rduino Blynk Library.
• Upload the given code to the ESP32 board using the
IDE.
• Open Blynk cloud. Signup or login to create a new
account.
• After signing in to Blynk. Create a new device such
as ESP32.
• Create a new device LED Blink .
• Under the device info section we can see the authentication
token which we
used in Arduino IDE code.
• As we need to control a LED so we will be using the digital pin for
data
streams.
• Now select the pin at which the LED is connected. Here we used
the D12 pin
of ESP32 and configured it as an output.
• Write authentication token in Arduino IDE code.
• write our internet and its password and upload the code .
• Now open your serial monitor and press reset button of ESP32 and
now ESP
starts connecting to your network, once connected it will shows
Blynk word.
[Link] open Blynk app and go to the project you created earlier and
tap on play. [Link] you can see on clicking on button your LED will
change its state.
Cloud data monitoring using Thonny
IDE :
• Cloud data monitoring is crucial for
organizations to ensure the performance,
availability, and security of their data stored in the cloud.
• Thonny IDE is a great choice for cloud data monitoring.
• You canusePython programming language with
Thonny to connect to cloud
services and monitor data.
• It's a powerful tool for developing and testing your code.
• To monitor cloud data using THONNY IDE, you typically won't
directly interact with the cloud services within THONNY itself.
Instead, you'd use THONNY to write Python code that interacts
with cloud APIs or services.
Home
Automation
• Home automation works via a network of devices that are connected to
the Internet through different communication protocols, i.e Wi-Fi,
Bluetooth, ZigBee, and others.
• Through electronic interfaces, the devices can be managed
remotely through controllers, either a voice assistant like Alexa or
Google Assistant or an app.
• Many of these IoT devices have sensors that monitor changes
in motion, temperature, and light so the user can gain
information about the device’s surroundings.
How does Home automation
Workworks on three levels:
• Home automation
• Monitoring: Monitoring means that users can check in on
their devices remotely through an app. For example, someone
could view their live feed from a smart security camera.
• Control: Control means that the user can control these devices
remotely, like panning a security camera to see more of a living
space.
• Automation: Finally, automation means setting up devices to
trigger one another, like having a smart siren go off whenever an
armed security camera detects motion.

but after the implementation in various sectors, it has changed
those greatly and thus they perform their businesses efficiently
with the connected devices.
• Security has also been seen a common challenge for some other
sectors and they want assurance before its but the team IoT
has also spent a lot of time making IoT locations safer places
and thus they drastically have become successful on the same
as well.
• Thus the future of the internet of things is assumed bright and a
lot of businesses are going to invest in the future to take a
greater benefit.
