What is a Keyboard?
A computer keyboard is an input device that allows a
person to enter letters, numbers, and other symbols
( CHARACTERS) into a computer. It is one of the most
used input devices for computers. Using a keyboard to
enter lots of data is called typing.
The Braille
keyboard
A Braille keyboard is a special type of
keyboard, usually featuring raised dots,
that is used by visually impaired people to
enter data into the computer. In contrast to
the standard keyboard, Braille keyboards
have a single key that represents each dot.
Qwerty Keyboard
• The QWERTY keyboard is the standard
computer keyboard in countries that use a
Latin-based alphabet. QWERTY refers to
the first six letters on the upper row of the
keyboard. The key arrangement was
devised by Christopher Latham
Concept
Keyboards
• A concept keyboard is a flat board that
contains a grid of buttons. Each button
can be programmed to do whatever you
want. Popularly used for restaurants, fast
food places to place orders etc.
What is a MOUSE?
• A computer mouse is an input device that is used
with a computer. Moving a mouse along a flat surface
can move the cursor to different items on the screen.
Items can be moved or selected by pressing
the mouse buttons (called clicking)
Mechanical Mouse
• A mechanical mouse is a computer mouse that contains
a metal or rubber ball on its under side. When the ball is
rolled in any direction, sensors inside the mouse detect
the motion and move the on-screen mouse pointer
accordingly. Today, this mouse has been replaced by the
optical mouse
Optical Mouse
• An optical mouse is a computer mouse which uses a
light source, typically a light-emitting diode (LED),
and a light detector, such as an array of photodiodes,
to detect movement relative to a surface.
Wireless Mouse
• A mouse that connects to the computer
without a cord. They can also be used with a
computer that has Bluetooth or via an adapter.
