ISA (Industrial Standard Architecture) 8 BIT :Manufactured by IBM Comes in 8088 mp based Mother Board. It was 8 bit bus. Provide the speed of 4.77MHz It has 62 contacts. Black in color. Used for display card, lan card, modem etc.

16 BIT ISA SLOT


Manufactured By IBM. Comes in 80286 mp based Motherboard. It was 16 bit bus. Provides the speed of 8 MHz It has 98 contacts & single cut . Black in color. Compatible with 8 bit ISA. Used for LAN card, Sound card, Modem etc.

MCA (Micro Channel Architecture)


Manufactured by IBM. Comes in 80386 mp based Motherboard. It was 32 bit bus. Provides the speed of 10 MHz It has 112 contacts. Brown in color. Used for display card, sound card.

EISA (Enhanced Industry Standard Architecture)

Manufactured by Compaq in 1988. It was 16/32 bit bus. Provides the speed of 33 MHz It has 152 contacts. Fully compatible with 8 bit & 16 bit ISA. Comes in 80386 mp based Motherboard. Black & brown in color. Used for display, sound card and modem.

VESA (Video Electronic Standard Association)


Manufactured by IBM. Comes in 80486 mp based Motherboard. It was 32 bit bus. Provides the speed of 33.33 MHz Used for display card. Brown in color. It had 112 contacts.

PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect)


Developed by Intel with the help of Microsoft. Comes in Pentium Mother Board. It is most popular slot. White & Yellow in color. Provides the speed of 33 MHz It is 32 bit bus. Support plug & play feature. It has 124 contacts. Used for Display card, LAN Card, Modem etc.

AMR (Audio Modem Riser)

Develop by Intel. Used for Internal Modem. Comes in P-II mp based Motherboard. Provide the speed of 33Mhz. It has 46 contacts. It was 64 bit bus. Brown in color.

CNR (Communication Network Riser)

Develop by Intel. Used for Network as well as Modem. It had 64 bit. It had 60 contacts. Comes in P-IV Micro Processor. Brown in color. Provide the speed of 66 MHz. Small in size & high efficiency.

PCI EXPRESS

Introduced by INTEL. It is 64 bit. Provide the speed of 66MHz. Support plug & play feature. It has 184 contacts. It comes in P-IV mp based Motherboard. Black in color. Comes in different types like :- 1x, 2x, 16x It is a dedicated slot.

AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port)

Introduced by INTEL. Used for display as for better graphics. Comes in 32 bit bus. Provides the speed of 66 MHz Brown in color. Comes in P-IV mp based Motherboard. Comes in different types like:- 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x. It has 124 contacts.

PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association)
