TOPIC:

Taxonomy of virtualization techniques

• Virtualization is mainly used to emulate execution environments, storage, and networks
• Process-level techniques are implemented on top of an existing operating system, which
has full control of the hardware.
• System-level techniques are implemented directly on hardware and do not require or
require a minimum of support from an existing operating system

TYPES OF HARDWARE VIRTUALIZATION

• Here are the three types of hardware virtualization:

• Full Virtualization
• Emulation Virtualization
• Paravirtualization
• Full Virtualization

7
FULL VIRTUALIZATION

• full virtualization, the underlying hardware is completely simulated.

Guest software does not require any modification to run.

9
EMULATION VIRTUALIZATION

• In Emulation, the virtual machine simulates the hardware and hence

becomes independent of it. In this, the guest operating system does
not require modification

PARAVIRTUALIZATION

• In Paravirtualization, the hardware is not simulated. The guest

software run their own isolated domains
