Unit # 15: Volume and Surface Area
3rd lecture
Q#13: Find the surface area of each triangular prism.
(i) surface area of triangular based prism = b × h + (
= 9 cm × 5 cm + ( 7cm +9cm +7cm ) × 11cm
= 45 cm + (23 cm) × 11 cm
= 45 cm + 253 cm
= 298 c Ans
(ii) surface area of triangular based prism = b × h + (
= 4 cm × 3 cm + ( 5cm + 4 cm + 3cm ) × 9cm
= 12 cm + ( 12 cm) × 9 cm
= 12 cm + 108 cm
= 120 c
Q# 14: solution:
(i) Volume of triangular prism = base area ×
= 40 × 8
= 320 c
ii) Volume of triangular prism = base area ×
= 36 × 17
= 612 c
Q# 15: The base area of a triangular prism is 55 c
solution:
Volume of triangular prism = base area ×
= 55 cm2× 20 cm
= 1100 c

2) What is the length of the length of the triangular prism if its volume
C) 13 D) 16
is 312 and base area is 24 ?
Sol:
A) 26 B) 24
Length of triangular prism = volume ÷ base area
= 312 c ÷ 24
= 13 cm ( part C )
