NF1 Lab Policies


and Expectations
Fall 2022
Attendance
**Please only attend lab during your
sections scheduled lab time**
• NURS1202 section #’s and times:
• Section 1 – Monday 1000-1130
• Section 2 – Tuesday 1100-1230
• Section 3 – Thursday 1100-1230
• Section 4 – Friday 1000-1130
• Section 13 – Friday 1200 - 1330
• *Lab occurs once a week for
every section*​

• Textbook readings are provided for you in the posted schedule and on
D2L
• It is expected you come prepared for lab, it is not the time to be
introduced to new concepts​
Learners are expected to adopt a team approach and exhibit professional behaviour.

Professional dress code is required:

• Bow Valley College uniform tops are the colour aqua with
black uniform pants. They can be purchased from Universal
Workwear at 2135 – 32 Avenue N.E. in Calgary or Bow Valley
College Bookstore

• Bow Valley College photo ID is considered part of the


uniform and should be visible

• Watch with a second hand required

• Colored lab jackets are acceptable

• Shirts (no turtlenecks or collared shirts) under scrub tops


must be solid color and must not be visible below hem of top

• Undergarments must not be visible

• Tattoos: may be visible, however, nudity, profanity or


offensive depictions must be appropriately covered at all
times

Professional dress code is required
(yes even at home!)
• Hair longer than shoulder length must be worn up, off the
neck and secured

• Beards and moustaches must be clean, trimmed, and well


groomed

• Fingernails must be clean and short; no artificial nails

• Jewelry
• one plain, flat ring, no stones, no etching is fine
• no necklaces preferred; if worn, they must not be
visible
• Piercings: maximum of three visible body piercings,
that have small studs or sleepers (small enough to hug
the ear lobe)
• Medic Alert chain or bracelet is permitted

• Eating or drinking and/or gum chewing are not permitted

Lab Supplies
• Potter, P. A., Perry, A. G., Stockert, P. A., Hall, A. M., Astle, B. J., &
Duggleby, W. (Eds.). (2019). Canadian fundamentals of nursing (6th
ed.). Elsevier Canada.
• You will require a NEW NF1 lab kit which can be purchased
through the BVC bookstore
• In addition to the NF1 lab kits, you may be required to print out or
write out/ draw materials required for labs. We will let you know
in advance when this is required. They will be posted in D2L
