What is
it?
• A thermometer is an instrument
for measuring and indicating
temperature of gaseous, liquid, or
solid matter or a chemical
reaction such as fire. It usually
consist f a narrow sealed glass
tube marked with different
temperature levels, and having
one containing mercury or alcohol
which extends along the tube as it
expands, indicating the
temparture.
What does it
measure?
• A thermometer is an instrument that
measures the temperature. I measures
tempareutres of solids, liquids, and
gases, along with chemical reactions
like fire. It measures these things in
different units such as Celsius,
Fahrenheit, and Kelvin.
How does it
measure it?
• A standard thermometer you find in a
science lab usually consist of a narrow
sealed glass tube, with marks up the
side indicating temperature, containing
a liquid such as mercury or an alcohol.
When heated up, this liquid will expand
and rise up the narrow tube until it
reaches a certain point, and using the
temperature marks on the
thermometer, you are able to state the
temperature of whatever you are
measuring.

us learn about
atoms and or
matter?
• A thermometer helps us to find
out the melting point, boiling
point, and other points of
different elements or matter.
This can helps us to group
different elements, and help
discover their different
properties.

the temperature of matter, and
this is usually done in Celsius,
Fahrenheit, or Kelvin. It can also
measure the temperature of a
form of matters boiling point,
melting point, and more.
