How to use Software in this field
Civil Engineering Software for Drafting
or Drawing
1. AUTO CAD
AutoCAD is a commercial computer-aided design and drafting
software application
Software for Project Planning and Project
Management/ Construction Planning/Project Planning.
Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet
developed by Microsoft for Windows
Execution, surveying, planning, contracts,
budgeting, designing, quality control,
quantity estimation, you name it.

vastu is nothing related to religion. It is a science of setting things up in
order to maintain the balance of the five elements, which are EARTH,
FIRE, WATER, SPACE, and AIR to have a promising atmosphere and
take the most benefit out of life. By Vastu, we basically mean a dwelling,
which is the home for both god and humans in the most favorable way.
Vastushastra is based on various energies that come from the atmosphere,
like solar energy from the sun, cosmic energy, lunar energy, thermal
energy, magnetic energy, light energy, wind energy. One should balance
these energies to have prosperity, success, opportunity, and tranquility, and
that can be done by following VASTU.

2. Primavera P6
One of the best civil engineering software courses. Primavera is
an enterprise project portfolio management software. It includes
project management, collaboration, and control capabilities and
integrates with other enterprise software like Oracle and SAP’s
ERP systems.
3. Microsoft Project (MS Project)
Microsoft Project is a
project management software product
developed and sold by Microsoft. It is
designed to assist a project manager in
developing a plan, assigning resources to
tasks, tracking progress, managing the
budget, and analyzing workloads.

Civil Engineering Software for 3d modeling
of structure/Architecture
1. Autodesk 3ds Max
Autodesk 3ds Max, formerly 3D Studio and 3D Studio
Max, is a professional 3D computer graphics program for
making 3D animations, models, games, and images. It is
developed and produced by Autodesk Media and
Entertainment.

The difference between BIM and Revit
Updated: Aug 16, 2021
Autodesk #Revit is not #BIM. BIM is a process and
Revit is a tool to leverage that process.
There is still a major confusion between Building
Information Modeling and Revit, where BIM is
considered to be a piece of software such as Revit.
However; the fact is that Revit is one of the BIM tools
available and is widely used for the creation of the 3D
digital BIM model.
BIM is a process, a methodology and Revit is a single
application built for Building Information Modeling with
features for the three main disciplines of the AEC
industry, (Architectural, MEP- Mechanical, Electrical
and Plumbing, Structural engineering).

. Autodesk BIM 360
Autodesk® BIM 360™ Build is a cloud-based field
management service for construction professionals
combining a mobile application with collaboration and
reporting at the point of construction. BIM 360 Design
connects distributed project teams, allowing them to
collaborate on shared Revit models.
4. Tekla BIMsight
Tekla BIMsight. Tekla BIMsight is a
professional tool for construction project
collaboration. The entire construction
workflow can combine their models, check
for conflicts, and share information using
an easy-to-use BIM environment.

Highway & Transportation Engineering
Highway engineering is an engineering discipline branching
from civil engineering that involves the planning, design,
construction, operation, and maintenance of roads, bridges,
and tunnels to ensure safe and effective transportation of
people and goods. Highway engineering became prominent
towards the latter half of the 20th Century after World War 2.
Standards of highway engineering are continuously being
improved. Highway engineers must take into account future
traffic flows, design of highway intersections/interchanges,
geometric alignment and design, highway pavement materials
and design, structural design of pavement thickness, and
pavement maintenance.

Software uses
Road Designing & Analysis
MX –Road: MX Road. MX Road is an excellent string-
based modeling tool that enables the rapid and accurate
design of all types of roads. Individuals such as civil
engineers, designers, surveyors, system designers can
access 3D modeling, construction-driven engineering, and
other analysis all in one engineering application.
16
Structural Engineering
Structural engineering is a sub-discipline of civil engineering in which
structural engineers are trained to design the 'bones and muscles' that
create the form and shape of man-made structures. Structural engineers
also must understand and calculate the stability, strength, rigidity and
earthquake-susceptibility of built structures for buildings[1] and nonbuilding
structures. The structural designs are integrated with those of other
designers such as architects and building services engineer and often
supervise the construction of projects by contractors on site. [2] They can
also be involved in the design of machinery, medical equipment, and
vehicles where structural integrity affects functioning and safety.
See glossary of structural engineering.

Software for Structural Analysis and Design
STAAD PRO
Provides flexible modeling environment, fluent
data collaboration, and advanced features. It best
structural analysis & design software that supports
Indian as well as all international codes. [Link]
permits structural engineers to design & analyze any
type of structure virtually.

3. ETABS
ETABS is a sophisticated and suitable special purpose analysis
& design program particularly developed for building systems.
Large and most complex building models are easily configured
with its best-integrated systems and its abilities, it guarantees:
Powerful tools with graphical and object-based interfaces help to
create a CAD-like drawing.
Improves structural engineer’s productivity in the building
industries.
Saves major time and has more efficiency over general purpose
programs
19
Geotechnical engineering
Geotechnical engineering is the study of
the behaviour of soils under the
influence of loading forces and soil-
water interactions. This knowledge is
applied to the design of foundations,
retaining walls, earth dams, clay liners, and
geosynthetics for waste containment.
20
21
Water Resources Engineering
Water resources engineering is the study and
management of equipment, facilities and techniques
that are used to manage and preserve life’s most
plentiful resource. In addition to assessing how and
the best ways in which to control water as it pertains
to water-related activities – such as irrigation, waste
disposal and canal development – water resource
engineers are also frequently involved in water
management to ensure that it’s safe to drink both for
humans, plants and animal usage. As previously
referenced, surface water makes up about 71% of the
planet, which is the equivalent of roughly 326 million
cubic miles. At the same time, though, just 3% of the
Earth’s water is fresh, according to the Bureau of
Reclamation. And of this total, 2.5% of it is out of
reach, contained in the soil, polar ice caps, the
atmosphere and glaciers or too polluted to use safely.
22
Environmental engineering
Environmental engineering is the branch of
engineering that is concerned with protecting
people from the effects of adverse environmental
effects, such as pollution, as well as improving
environmental quality.
