INTRODUCTION
How the Idea Originated

• Problem: Risks faced by aquatic species due to change in physical

conditions of water

• Objective: To monitor the water’s physical conditions such as

temperature, pH, etc and maintain the water level.

• Approach: Utilize an ESP32 microcontroller, float switch and a waterproof

temperature sensor along with Blynk IOT App

2
NEED FOR SMART
POND SYSTEM

• Monitoring of physical conditions of water

such as pH, temperature, etc
• Monitoring of water level
• It reduces environmental risks that could
threaten aquatic ecosystems.
• It is used in in Aquaculture industries for
maintaining aquatic health

Circuit connections
1. Power Supply 4. TMP36 Temperature Sensor

• Battery + (6.7V) → L298N VCC • TMP36 VOUT → ESP32 GPIO34 (Analog Input)

• Battery – (GND) → L298N GND • TMP36 GND → ESP32 GND

• ESP32 GND → L298N GND (common ground)

• TMP36 VCC → ESP32 3.3V

2. Motor Connections

• Motor wire 1 → L298N OUT1

5. Float Switch
• Motor wire 2 → L298N OUT2
• One terminal → ESP32 GPIO4
3. ESP32 to L298N (Control Pins)
• Other terminal → ESP32 GND
• ESP32 GPIO12 → L298N IN1

• ESP32 GPIO14 → L298N IN2
Working Principle
1. Temperature Monitoring Begins
The ESP32 reads the water temperature using an analog temperature sensor (TMP36).

2. Water Level Monitoring Starts

A float switch continuously checks the water level in the pond.

3. Data Transmission to Blynk

The ESP32 sends both temperature and water level data to the Blynk mobile app via Wi-Fi for real-
time monitoring.

4. Water Level Check & Pump Activation

If the water level is low, the float switch triggers the ESP32.
The ESP32 then activates a water pump using the L298N motor driver to refill the pond.

5. Temperature Alert Trigger

If the temperature exceeds the preset threshold (e.g., 30°C), the ESP32 sends a one-time alert
notification to the Blynk app.

6. Manual Pump Control Option

The user can manually override the pump through a virtual switch in the Blynk app.

7. System Maintains Ideal Conditions

Through automated control and user interaction, the system maintains optimal water levels and 7
temperature, ensuring a healthy environment for the fish.

Conclusion
The Smart Pond Monitoring System
using [Link] offers an efficient and
reliable solution for real-time
monitoring and management of pond
conditions. By integrating sensors
with a Wi-Fi-enabled microcontroller
and the Blynk IoT platform, users can
remotely track key parameters like
water temperature and level, receive
instant alerts, and even automate
control actions. This system not only
enhances convenience but also plays
a vital role in maintaining a healthy
aquatic environment, thereby
reducing risks and ensuring the well-
being of aquatic life.
