INTRODUCTION
• Almost one third of total communication is the social and business

• Good writing skills allowed to you to draft your message and express
your ideas and feelings in a way that can be easily understood by
others .
• In the upcoming slides we will learn about the basic of developing
effective writing skills.
WHAT ARE SENTENCE?
• Sentence are the fundamental unit of return and
spoken language.
• A sentence is a group of word that conveys
complete meaning.
• While writing a message we should take into
account for whom we are writing.
SOME COMMON RULES WHICH YOU SHOULD GIVE
IN YOUR MIND WHILE WRITING SENTENCE ARE AS
FOLLOWs
1. Start a sentence with a capital letter and it with the
appropriate punctuation.
2. Ensure subject verb agreement in the sentence. Also
make sure that it express a complete thought.
3. Use clear and concise language and avoid sentence
fragments.
4. Employee proper punctuation within the sentence.
5. Maintain consistent verb tenses. Ensure correct use of
pronouns
PUNCTUATION MARKS
• Punctuation in a sentence referred to the use of specific
symbol like comma (,), periods (.), question mark (?) ,
and exclamation marks (!) to separate ideas, clarify
meaning, and indicate causes or emphasize in the
sentence.
• Some commonly used punctuation marks in the English
language are explained in the next slide

PARTS OF SENTENCE
• Subject- the person or thing that perform the action in a
sentence is called subject
• Predicate- the part of the sentence that indicates the
action being performed is called predicate.
• Clause- a close is a group of wide that contains a
subject and a predicate
• Phrase- afraid is a group of words that convey and
incomplete meaning
TYPES OF SENTENCES
• Assertive and declarative sentences- the sentences are
the existing truth and provide information or fact
• Interrogative sentences- these are the questioning
sentence and always ends with a question mark.
• Exclamatory sentence- exclamatory sentence express
from feeling emotion or sudden reaction.
• Imperative sentences- these types of sentences shows
an order command advisor request it may end with full
stop or an exclamation mark .
PARTS OF SPEECH
• Noun – A noun is the name of person place thing or idea. Noun are
of five types-proper noun, common noun, collective noun, material
noun and abstract noun.
• Pronoun – a pronoun is a word used in a place of noun.
• Verb- the verb in a sentence is a word that expresses the action
being performed.
• Adverb- an adverb is a word that qualifies a verb in a sentence
• Adjectives- and adjective is a word that qualifies a noun or
pronoun in a sentence.
• Preposition- a preposition is a bird that established the
relationship between the subject and the object in a sentence.
• Conjunction – a conjunction is a word that join two sentences,
close or phrases into a complete sentence.
• Interjection- an interjection is a word in a sentence that express
some feeling, surprise , sudden Joy or sorrow.
CONSTRUCTION OF PARAGRAPHS
• Unity- unity in a paragraph being with the topic sentence. Every
paragraph has one single, controlling idea that is expressed in
its topic sentence which is typically the first sentence of
paragraph.
• Order- order referred to the way you organise your support
sentences. Order can be chronological order of importance or
another logical presentation.
• Coherence-coherence is the quality that makes your writing
under stable. Sentences within a paragraph need to connect to
each other and work together as a whole.
• Completeness- completeness means a paragraph is well
developed. If all sentences clearly and sufficiently support the
main Idea, then your paragraph is complete.
INTRODUCING YOURSELF AND
OTHER
• When meeting someone new, introduce yourself by
sharing your name and a bit of personal
information or background. Maintain eye contact
and smile during the introduction
• For example –
• Self introduction- hello I am x y z. I work as a
graphic designer and I love painting in my free
time.
• Introducing others- this is Abcd . He is an actor. We
have known each other since college and he is a
fantastic cook.
