BOYLE’S LAW
• Robert William Boyle (1627-1691) is the
Father of Modern Chemistry. He was an
Anglo-Irish scientist born in Ireland.
• Boyle's study revealed the relationship
between the volume and pressure of a
given constant temperature. He found
that the volume of a gas is inversely
proportional to its pressure.

ASSIGNMENT:
For your assignment, try to solve the following problems
about Boyle’s Law using the equation P₁V₁=P₂V₂
• 1. A syringe contains 56.11 mL of gas at 311 K.
Determine the volume that the gas will occupy if the
temperature is increased to 400 K.
• 2. If 540 mL of nitrogen at 0.00⁰C is heated to a
temperature of 100.0⁰C, what will be the new volume of
the gas?
