How many stickers does she habe
now?
Let learners use popsicle sticks or bottle caps:
• Count 2 tens and 3 ones for 23.
• Count 2 tens and 5 ones for 25.
• Combine them → 4 tens and 8 ones → 48 stickers.
Ask: What did you notice when we added the groups?
2. Pictorial Stage (Step 2)
Draw tens and ones blocks on the board.
23 = ▭▭ + ●●●
25 = ▭▭ + ●●●●●

Total: 4 tens and 8 ones = 48.

Ask volunteers to show drawings on their papers.


3. Abstract Stage (Step 3)
Write the vertical form on the board:

Discuss how ones are added (3 + 5 = 8), then tens (2 + 2 =


4).

Highlight: No regrouping is needed.
