Integration
Livro da Rita Rita Mulcahy - PMP® Exam
Prep, Eleven Edition
Pág. 95 - 120
Goal:
To understand the project manager's primary role as the integrator of all project elements.
To master the seven processes of Project Integration Management and how they flow
from one to the next.
To know the purpose and content of key documents like the Project Charter and the
Project Management Plan.
To master the integrated change control process, including the role of the Change
Control Board (CCB).
To understand the critical flow of Work Performance Data → Information → Reports.
To know the formal steps required to properly close a project or phase.
Key words:
Project Integration Management: The coordination of all project management
knowledge areas.
Project Charter: The document that formally authorizes the project and the project
manager.
Assumption Log: A document that records all assumptions and constraints.
Project Management Plan: The comprehensive master plan that details how the project
will be managed, executed, and controlled.
Change Control Board (CCB): A formal group responsible for reviewing, evaluating,
approving, delaying, or rejecting changes to the project.
Change Request: A formal proposal to modify any document, deliverable, or baseline.
Lessons Learned Register: A document used to record knowledge gained during a
project.
Work Performance Data, Information, Reports: The raw data, analyzed information,
and compiled reports representing project progress.
Summary:
Project Integration Management is the core responsibility of the project manager.
It's the "glue" that holds all the other project management knowledge areas
together, ensuring all parts of the project work in harmony from start to finish.
This chapter covers the processes that span the entire project life cycle, from
formally authorizing the project with a charter and creating a master plan, to
managing the work, controlling changes, and formally closing the project.
Overview:
This knowledge area is unique because it is the only one with processes in all five
process groups (Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, and
Closing).
The chapter shows the logical flow of a project as orchestrated by the project
manager. It starts with the Develop Project Charter process, which gives the
project its official start.
Then, a comprehensive Project Management Plan is created.
During execution, the PM must Direct and Manage Project Work while also
Managing Project Knowledge.
Throughout the project, the PM will Monitor and Control Project Work against the
plan, manage all modifications through Perform Integrated Change Control, and
finally, formally conclude all activities in the Close Project or Phase process.
Overview:
6 processes of Procurement Management:
1. Develop Project Charter
2. Develop Project Management Plan
3. Manage Project Knowledge
4. Direct and Manage Project Work
5. Monitor and Control Project Work
6. Perform Integrated Change Control
7. Close Project or Phase
Process 1. Develop Project Charter
Purpose: To create the document that formally authorizes the project's
existence and provides the project manager with the authority to apply
organizational resources to project activities..
Details :
The project sponsor, not the project manager, issues the charter. It is a
high-level document that establishes the project's vision and
objectives.
Principais Entradas: Business Case, Acordos, Fatores Ambientais da
Empresa.
Process 2. Develop Project Management Plan
Purpose: To create a single, comprehensive document that defines the
basis of all project work and how the work will be performed.
Details:
executado, monitorizado, controlado e encerrado?".
This is not a single document but a collection of all subsidiary plans
(scope, schedule, cost, etc.) and baselines.
The kickoff meeting happens after this plan is approved.
Principais Entradas: Project Charter, Saídas de outros processos de
planeamento.
Key Outuputs: Project Management Plan (Plano de Gestão do Projeto).
Process 3. Manage Project Knowledge
Purpose: To lead and perform the work defined in the project management plan
and to implement approved changes.
Details:
capturadas e usadas.
This is the main execution process where deliverables are produced and the
bulk of the budget and time is spent.
Principais Entradas: Entregáveis, Lições Aprendidas.
Key Outuputs: Deliverables, Work Performance Data, Issue Log, Change
Requests.
Process 4. Direct and Manage Project Work
Purpose: To use existing organizational knowledge and create new knowledge to
achieve the project's objectives and contribute to organizational learning.
Details:
É onde a maior parte do orçamento e do tempo do projeto é consumida.
O gestor de projeto integra e executa as atividades conforme o plano.
This process focuses on managing both explicit (documented) and tacit
(personal experience, know-how) knowledge.
Principais Entradas: Project Management Plan, Pedidos de Alteração
Aprovados.
Key Outuputs: Lessons Learned Register.
Process 5. Monitor and Control Project Work
Purpose: To track, review, and report the overall progress to meet the
performance objectives defined in the project management plan.
Details :
Work Performance Data (Dados brutos da execução, ex: "gastámos
100€").
Work Performance Information (Dados com contexto, ex: "gastámos
This is where the project manager compares the plan against actual
performance. It's crucial to understand the flow: raw Data is
analyzed to create contextual Information, which is then compiled
into Reports for stakeholders.
Process 6. Perform Integrated Change Control
Purpose: To review all change requests; approve changes and manage changes
to deliverables, project documents, and the project management plan; and
communicate decisions.
Details:
This is a centralized process to prevent uncontrolled changes ("scope creep").
The PM's role is to analyze the full impact of a change before it is presented
to the Change Control Board (CCB) for a decision.
Principais Entradas: Change Requests, Project Management Plan.
Process 7. Close Project or Phase
Purpose: To formally finalize all activities for the project, phase, or contract.
Details:
encerramento formal.
Atividades principais: Obter a aceitação final do cliente, transferir o produto
contratos.
A project is not over until it is formally closed. This involves getting final
acceptance of the product, writing a final report, archiving records, and
releasing the team.
Principais Entradas: Project Charter, Project Management Plan, Entregáveis
Aceites.
