When we listen to a talk, we often don't understand every word.

However, we can still understand the main ideas and make sense of
unfamiliar words by using context clues. Here are some common types
of context clues.
● Nearby words and phrases: Listen for clues near the word you
don't understand.
Jerry doesn't want to buy a house because he doesn't want the
commitment.
You have to take care of a house, and you have to stay there a
long time.
● Definitions: Listen carefully after you hear a new word. Sometimes a
speaker will explain the meaning of the word.
