NETWORKING

PAN
• 1. PAN (Personal Area Network)
• Smallest network type, covering a very short distance (a few
meters).
• Connects personal devices like smartphones, tablets, laptops,
and wearables (e.g., smartwatches).
• Examples:
• Bluetooth connections (e.g., wireless earphones to a phone).
• USB data transfer between a phone and laptop.
• Wireless keyboards/mice connected to a PC.
LAN
• Connects devices within a small area (e.g., a home, school,
or office).
• Uses Ethernet cables or Wi-Fi.
• Faster and more secure than WAN.
• Examples:
• School computer lab where all PCs are connected.
• Home Wi-Fi network linking phones, laptops, and smart TVs.
WAN
• Covers a large geographical area (cities, countries, or
worldwide).
• Uses internet, leased lines, or satellites.
• Slower than LAN due to long distances.
• Examples:
• The Internet (largest WAN in the world).
• A company’s network connecting offices in different countries.
