SCIENCE And TECHNOLOGY
Even if we don't want to be
scientists, engineers, or computer
technicians we will need science to
cope with the rapidly changing
environment.
Every day is filled with opportunities
to learn science
Science is extremely important in
everyday life because there is not
one aspect of daily life that is not
based on science.
The science has made our lives
easier, faster or safer. Science
results in technology that people
rely on for health,
communication and
transportation.
Examples
electric energy changed people's lives forever.
A journey that took weeks on foot or
horseback was shortened to a few days' travel
by the use train and airplanes.
antibiotics and vaccines protect people from
diseases that were once feared as deadly, such
as measles or syphilis.
Can you imagine a world without science?
What is science?
The word science comes from
the Latin word "scientia,"
meaning knowledge.
Science is the study of the
world around us.
Living and non –living things :It could
be about plants,animals,human
beings,universe, anything that is
around us.
Think about the all the
technological devices that you
use on a regular basis.
Computers,smartphones,GPS
system.
In science, you can think
up all kinds of crazy ways
to explain the things you
observe. But you need
evidence to back up your
explanations.
The evidence is obtained
by doing experiments.
Who is a scientist?
A scientist is a person who studies or has
expertise in science. A scientist tries to
understand how our world, or other things,
work. Scientists make observations, ask
questions and do extensive research work in
finding the answers to many questions others may
not know about.
Scientist carry out research ,give information
and make new materials .
Skills used by a Scientist
1. Make Hypothesis: A hypothesis is an educated guess, or a guess
you make based on information you already know. Reasonable
explanation of a problem.

problems.
[Link]:You observe something using your senses. To see, hear, feel,
smell and taste. Paying close attention to the world around us to get
information.
[Link] : To get accurate information about what is happening
around us.
[Link] samples:Scientist bring animals, plants or non living
materials into the laboratory to study them more closely.(blood
test,urine test)
[Link]:To put things into groups
according to their similarities.
[Link] results:What you observe
happen during the experiment.
[Link] Conclusion:To tell what you found
out from your experiment.
[Link]:Forecast future events based on
the past observation or available data.
Technology
The application of
scientific knowledge for
practical purposes,
especially in industry
While science aims to .
understand the natural world,
technology focuses on applying
that understanding to practical
purposes. However, technology
can also enable further scientific
discovery.
