evidences
of
RPL
Three types of RPL
evidence:
Direct Evidence
Direct evidence refers to when the RPL
assessor can observe you working in real-
time to see your skill and knowledge being
demonstrated. It can be done either in-
person or using video.
This may include:
-The assessor observing you at work in-person
-An assessment of your knowledge and skills in-
person
-Providing videos of you completing a task
and/or working
Indirect Evidence
Indirect evidence refers to any type of evidence that
the assessor can evaluate to ascertain the level of skill
you have. There are a variety of ways you can provide
indirect evidence, with the specifics of the course
determining what will be relevant.
It may include:
-A finished product that demonstrates your work, such as a
document, pieces of work communication, or worksite visits
-A portfolio of your work
-Videos or photos of your finished work
-Written assignments or test results
Supplementary Evidence
Any other type of evidence that isn’t an example
of your work but supports your capacity is
considered supplementary evidence.
This could be:
-Job descriptions
-Any relevant references
-Testimonials or interviews from clients or employers
-Work diaries or logs
-Evidence of any relevant past training and education

assessments
ASSESSMENT METHODS
RPL, or Recognition of Prior Learning, is a
process that allows individuals to gain
recognition for the skills and knowledge they
have acquired through informal learning, work
experience, or other non-traditional means. The
assessment methods used in RPL may vary
depending on the institution or organization
implementing the process.
Portfolio assessment:
This involves the compilation of evidence, such
as samples of work, certificates, and
testimonials, to demonstrate the individual's
skills and knowledge.
Interview or discussion:
An assessor may conduct an interview or
discussion with the individual to assess their
understanding and application of the relevant
skills and knowledge.
Observation:
The assessor may observe the individual
performing specific tasks or activities to assess
their competence.
Written assessments:
This may involve completing written
assignments, tests, or quizzes to demonstrate
knowledge and understanding.
Practical assessments:
Individuals may be required to perform practical
tasks or simulations to demonstrate their skills
and abilities.
Third-party verification:
In some cases, the assessor may seek
verification from a third party, such as a
supervisor or employer, to validate the
individual's skills and experience.
It is important to note that the specific assessment
methods used in RPL can vary depending on the
context and requirements of the qualification or
certification being sought.
