(PBL) is a student-
centered approach in
which students learn
about a subject by
working in groups to solve
an open-ended problem.
Proponent of Problem-Based Learning
The term “Problem-Based Learning” (PBL) was
originally developed by Howard Barrows and
Roblyn Tamblyn (1980) for medical education.
It is based on the Constructivist Theory of
Learning.
