Physical Organization and Course


Orientation
Legal Bases of NSTP
1987 Philippine Constitution
• Article II, Section 4: Duty of the State to serve

• Article II, Section 13: Role of the youth in
nation-building.
• Ensures that youth are motivated to
participate in public and civic affairs.
• Example: Youth involvement in community
service, leadership programs.
Commonwealth Act No. 1 (1935)
• Also known as the National Defense Act.

• Mandated compulsory military service for all


Filipino males aged 18-30.
• Aimed at preparing citizens for national
defense.
• Example: ROTC as a form of citizen military
training.
Presidential Decree No. 1706
(1980)
• Known as the National Service Law.

• Made national service obligatory for all


citizens.
• Three components: Civic Welfare Service, Law
Enforcement Service, Military Service.
• Example: Participation in disaster response
and relief operations.
Republic Act No. 7077 (1991)
• Also known as the Citizen Armed Forces of the

Philippines Reservist Act.


• Organizes, trains, and utilizes reservists for
national security.
• Supports the regular armed forces in times of
war or calamity.
• Example: Reserve force activation during
national emergencies.
Republic Act No. 9163 (2001)

• Established NSTP as a requirement for all


college students.
• Three components: ROTC, Civic Welfare
Training Service (CWTS), Literacy Training
Service (LTS).
• Example: College students teaching literacy in
communities (LTS).
