CIVIL SERVICE
EXAMINATION
The Civil Services Examination [CSE] is a
national competitive examination India conducted by the
Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to
higher Civil Services of the Government of India.
UPSC registration fees are 100 rupees for
general, OBC male candidates, for other categories of
candidates the registration fee is exempted.
The exam is conducted in three phases : A
preliminary examination consisting of two objective-type
papers, main examination consisting of nine paper of
conventional type and last one is personality test taken by
the interview.
ELIGIBILITY:
• Nationality:
The candidate must be a citizen of India.
• Educational Qualification:
The candidate should be graduate in any stream.
It can be regular or distance education.
• Age:
For general category: 21 to 32
For OBC : 21 to 35
For SC/ST: 21 to 37
• Number Of Attempt:
General Category : 6 attempt
OBC Candidate : 9 attempt
SC/ST Candidate : Unlimited attempts till 37 year of age

STAGE 3 : PERSONALITY TEST
• UPSC board members conducted Interview
to take candidates personality test for 275
marks.
• Question paper is only given in Hindi or
English. Answer can be given in any one of
the scheduled language of India
EXAM DATES :
• Preliminary Examination : Held in June every year, result are
announced in August.
• Main Examination : Held in October every year, results are
announced in January
• Personality Test [Interview] : Held in March, final results are
usually announced in May
After the completion of Medical Examination of
the successful candidates, the Training Program usually started in
September.
