Introduction
• This presentation tell about the projects where modern engineering
goes hand in hand with the cultural and environmental aspects
preserving the resources provided to us humans.
Case Studies
• 1. The Eden Project (Cornwall,UK)

• [Link] City (Abu Dhabi, UAE)

1. The Eden Project (Cornwall,UK)
• Cultural Considerations: The Eden Project integrates education and
public engagement with sustainability. It’s a living educational
experience designed to connect people with nature and
environmental issues. It draws from Cornwall’s mining history to
create a modern, environmentally responsible destination, while
respecting the regional cultural context.

• Environmental Considerations: This project consists of large biomes
housing diverse ecosystems, including tropical and Mediterranean
environments. The structures are made from geodesic domes that
are energy efficient, and the biomes were built using sustainable
materials. Additionally, the project aims to conserve biodiversity
and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
2. Masdar City (Abu Dhabi,UAE)
• Cultural Considerations: Masdar City is designed with a focus on the
culture and traditions of the UAE. The city's layout follows
traditional Arab principles of urban planning, with narrow streets
designed to encourage shade and airflow, and communal spaces
that promote interaction. The project is also designed with
consideration for the lifestyle of its residents and visitors,
integrating public spaces and sustainable transport systems.
2. Masdar City

• Environmental Considerations: Masdar City is a major project focused

on sustainability. It aims to be a zero-carbon, zero-waste city. It
incorporates renewable energy sources like solar power, employs
energy-efficient buildings, and uses advanced waste and water
management systems. The city is a living lab for green technologies,
setting a global example for how urban areas can be sustainable.
Conclusion
• Both of these case studies show that engineering can go hand to
hand with our nature, culture and environment preserving the
precious resources provided to us by mother nature and letting
human beings understand the importance and meaning of the
precious life given to them.
