MAP
TITLE
The map title is a descriptive heading
that provides a brief summary of the
map's content or purpose. It typically
appears at the top of the map.

The title helps users quickly


understand what the map represents.
It is essential for context, especially in
presentations or publications, where
the map might be used independently
of other materials.
Click on the “New Print Layout” or just
press Ctrl + P
Enter a title(unique) for your Print Layout.
Click on the “Add Map”
Once the cursor turns like this
“+”, Left click then hold, and
drag your mouse to shape your
map
Once your map is added, Click
on the “Add Label”

Once the cursor turns like this
“+”, Left click then hold, and
drag your mouse to shape your
text box. You can change the
title of your map on the “Item
Properties” section.

BORDERS
The map border is the line or
frame that encloses the map and
its elements. It often includes
neat lines or a frame around the
entire map.
The border helps to clearly define
the map's boundaries, separating
the map from other elements on
the page. It can also enhance the
map's aesthetic appeal and
improve readability by creating a
clear visual distinction between
the map and other content.
In your Map’s properties, Click
on the “Add New Grid”
Select “Grid 1”, then click on
the “Modify Grid”
Follow these selected settings
in your Map Grid properties

LEGENDS

The map legend (or key) is an explanatory table or list


of symbols, colors, and other map elements used to
represent different features on the map.
The legend helps users interpret the map by explaining
the meaning of the symbols, colors, and patterns used.
It is essential for understanding the map's content,
especially when multiple types of data are presented.

After adding your Map Border,
Click on the “Add Legend”
Once the cursor turns like this
“+”, Left click then hold, and
drag your mouse to shape your
Map Legend.
NORTH ARROW

The north arrow is a graphical


representation indicating the direction of
north on the map.
The north arrow helps users orient
themselves when reading the map,
ensuring they understand the directionality
of the map's features. It is crucial for
accurate spatial interpretation, especially in
navigation and geographic analysis.

After adding your Map Legend,
Click on the “Add North Arrow”
Once the cursor turns like this “+”, Left
click then hold, and drag your mouse to
shape the North Arrow. You can also
customize your arrow in the Item
Properties > SVG Images

The map scale is a ratio that
represents the relationship between
distances on the map and the actual
distances on the ground. It can be
shown as a ratio (e.g., 1:50,000) or as
a graphical bar.

The scale allows users to measure real-


world distances and areas based on
the map. It is vital for understanding
the extent of features and for making
accurate spatial measurements and
comparisons.
After adding your North Arrow,
Click on the “Add Scale”
Once the cursor turns like this “+”, Left
click then hold, and drag your mouse to
shape the North Arrow. You can also add
segments in your Scale in the Item
Properties > Segments > right 5
