LCD ( liquid crystal display)

An LCD projector is a type of video projector for displaying videos, image or


computer data on a screen or other flat surface.

Invented by the new york inventor , gene Dolgoff in 1984


Importance of LCD

Ø It provides a large, clear image that students can see from anywhere in the
room.

Ø Enhancing the learning experience

Ø Easy to use
Ø Lecture become more effective and interesting

Ø Students are more attentive

Ø Benefit for visual learner

Ø Presentation are easily made using power point or other software applications.
Types of LCD Projector

Based on size and portability, LCD Projectors classified as :

1. Ultralight portable projector

2. Conference room projectors

3. Fixed installation projectors


Guidelines for using LCD Projector

1. Projection surface

Projecting Surface should be neutral colour & best suited for natural colour tones
Guidelines for using LCD Projector

 Place Projector 5-15 feet away from the projection screen

 Place projector permanently on fixed ceiling/ on stable surface

 Computer/laptop cable should be connected at the back of the LCD projector on


a video port
Ø The power cable of projector should be connected to 3-way electrical port

Ø Lens cap of projector should be removed

Ø Projector should be switched on by pressing the power button on the top of


projector which will lead to a flash of light followed by the projection of image

Ø Computer/laptop should be ON

Ø Click the option of computer to display content on the projection screen

Ø Using focus of projector clear the content projected on the screen


3. Shutting down the projector

Ø Press the Power button; a message may appear to check whether to turn off the
projector. Again press the power button, projector will turn off

Ø Before unplug the projector from electrical port, wait for 2 minutes to off the
projector fan

Ø Also ensure the flashing light is off before the projector unplug
ADVANTAGES

Ø Slide show and video are clubbed together and customized in single
presentation

Ø Capture interest

Ø Visual attractive

Ø Connect to resources
DISADVANTAGES

Ø Expensive

Ø Need technical skill of computer and PPT and using LCD projector

Ø Can’t use in power failure /technical failure at the time of presentation

The software was designed as convenient way to display graphical
information that would support the speaker and supplement the
presentation.
GUIDELINES OF MAKING PPT
STUDENT ACCESSIBLITY

If Teacher must make sure the classroom is equipped with that the laptop proper
cables, drivers, and other means to display your presentation the way you have
intended.
SLIDE CONTENT

Ø Remember rule of six. Six lines in slide and six word in each line.

Ø Avoid text dense

Ø Use brief points instead of to long sentences or paragraphs

Ø Relate PowerPoint material to course objectives to reinforce their purpose


NUMBER OF SLIDES
Ø As a rule of thumb , plan to show one slide per minute to account for discussion
and time and for student to absorb the material

Ø Reduce redundant or text heavy sentences or bullets to ensure a more


professional appearance.

EMPHASIZING CONTENT

Ø Use of a light background with dark typeface or a dark background with a light
typeface is easy to read in a large room.

Ø Consider using different color slide backgrounds to change the pace of the
presentation ( or when you shift to new major slide)
FONT SIZE

Ø Ensure the typeface is large enough to read from anywhere in the room: titles
and headings should be not less than 32-36 for headings

Ø The subtext will be not less than 28 - 32.

CLIP ART AND GRAPHICS

Ø Photographs can be effectively used to add realism.

Ø Use clip art and graphics only when it supports the content.
ANIMATION AND SOUNDS

Ø Add motion, sound, or music only when necessary

Ø Excessive movement within or between slides can interface with the message
can be annoying. Avoid or use only simple screen transitions.
ADVANTAGES

Ø Interesting and motivating for students

Ø Easy to present and maintain eye contact with a large audience

Ø Can combine text, graphics and multi-media content to create professional


presentations
DISADVANTAGES

Ø Time consuming for teachers

Ø Technical faults ( Power supply)

Ø Some animations will not be supported by all systems

Ø Speakers create slides so they have something to present rather than


outlining, organizing, and focusing on their message.
SLIDE PROJECTOR
Small sized transparent pictorial /diagrammatic slides arranged in proper sequence
for presentation on a large screen

Slides is a still transparency of 70mm, 35mm or 60mm size

Photographic slides

Ø Black and white in colour

Ø Ideal size 2- 4 inch

Handmade slides

Ø Made using an acetate sheet, cello phane ,atched glass , plain glass
Preparation of slide show
 Collect the available slides

 Check them thoroughly

 Choose the slides

 Arrange the chosen slides in proper sequence

 Darken the room

Ø Easily handled , stored,and rearranged for various uses

Ø Results in colourful and realistic reproduction of original subject
