Value Stream Mapping Overview
• A visual tool to map and analyze flow of work
• Identifies: Lead time, handoffs, wait time,
rework
• Supports continuous improvement and flow
efficiency
Anatomy of a Value Stream Map
• Boxes = Process steps (e.g., backlog, dev, QA,
release)
• Arrows = Flow direction
• Metrics = Lead/cycle time, wait time, %
complete & accurate
• Look for waste: handoffs, delays, rework
How Scrum Masters Can Use VSM
• Facilitate cross-team mapping workshops
