FUNCTIONS OF BLOOD
• It transports digested food from the small intestine to all parts of the
body.
• It carries oxygens from lungs to all parts of the body.
• It also transports waste for removal from all other parts of the body.
TYPES OF BLOOD CELLS
• Red Blood Cells are the cells which contain a red pigment called
haemoglobin.
• White Blood Cells are the cells which fight germs that might enter our
body.
• Platelets are another types of blood cells which form a clot.
FUNCTIONS OF HAEMOGLOBIN
• Haemoglobin binds with oxygen and transports it to all parts of the body
and ultimately to all the cells
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ARTERIES AND
VEINS
• Arteries are the vessels which contain oxygen-rich blood from the heart to
all parts of the body.
• Veins are the vessels which carry carbon dioxide-rich blood from all parts
of the body back to blood.
• Veins have thin walls called valves. They allow blood to flow through the
heart.
DEFINE EXCRETION
• The process of removal of waste products from the cells in our body is
called excretion. This forms the excretory system.
• The parts of the excretory system are kidneys, urinary bladder, ureters
and urethra.
FUNCTIONS OF KIDNEYS
• Kidneys are mechanisms that filter the blood.
FUNCTIONS OF EXCRETORY SYSTEM

• From the kidneys, the urine goes into urinary bladder through a
tube-like ureter.
• It passes through the urinal opening at the end of a muscular tube
called urethra.
• The kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder and the urethra form the
excretory system.
WHAT IS DIALYSIS
• Nobody can survive unless their blood is filtered through an artificial
kidney.
• This process is called dialysis.
