MUSCLES OF THE HEAD
Frontalis
this the muscles which originates from cranial aponeurosis and is inserted into the
skin of the eyebrow
it plays the following function
It allows us to raise the eyebrows
To wrinkle the forehead
Orbicularis oculi
these are muscles which runs in circular around the eye
they play the following functions
it allows us to close our eye,wink ,blink and squint

Orbicularis oris
they are also called kissing muscle
they are muscle of the lips
they are circular in shape
they allow us to close the mouth
it also allows us to protrudes the lips
Buccinator
these are muscles which runs horizontally across the cheeks and
inserts into the orbicularis oris

They flattens the cheeks
Zygomaticus
these are muscles which extend corner of the mouth to the
cheek bone
they are also called smilling muscle
it raises the corner of the mouth
Masseter
this the muscle that covers the angle of the lower jaw

Trapezius
It originates from occipital bone and all cervical and thoracic
vertebrae into scapula spine and clavicle
it raise,retract and rotates the scapula
Latissimus dorsi
it originate from lower spine and iliac crest to proximal humerus
it extends and adducts the humerus
Deltoid
it originate from scapula spine and clavicle to humerus (deltoid
tuberosity)

LIMB(ARM AND FORE ARM)
Triceps brachii
it originates from the shoulder girdle and proximal humerus to
olecranal process of the ulna
it extends the elbow
Flexor carpi radialis
it originates from distal humerus to second and third meta carpals
it flexes wrist and abduct hand
Extensor carpi radialis
it originates from distal humerus to distal phalanges of the 2 nd to 5th
fingers

Gluteus maxuimus
it originates from sacrum and ilium to proximal femur(gluteal
tuberosity)
it extends hip (when forceful extension is required )

it abducts thigh ;steadies pelvis during walking
Soleus
it originates from proximal tibia and fibula to calcaneus
