Risks and hazards


When scientists carry out experiments, they do a risk
assessment beforehand as part of their plan. This involves
identifying hazards and deciding what safety precautions
should be taken to reduce the risk of an accident.

 A hazard is a possible danger


or threat (e.g. some acids are
hazardous because they are
toxic and corrosive).
