QUESTION TYPES
1. Opinion – What is your opinion/view / what do
you think?
2. Balanced – discuss both sides / what are the
adv. Disadvantages of this?
3. Problem/Cause – Solution - what are the
causes. What measures can be taken?
4. Solution – Solution – what measures, what can
be done? How can this be solved

1. General Background Statement
2. Paraphrase the Question
3. Give your opinion
4. Outline (this essay will discuss/explain/highlight..) + 2 main
ideas
Body 1 & 2 (same argument both paras)
1. Topic sentence – 1 idea which answers the question
2. Example
3. Explain
4. Counterargue (other side of the argument)
5. Conclude & opinion I strongly believe that…

Conclusion
1. Re-state your opinion
2. Re-state 2 main ideas from body 1&2
3. Future – prediction/suggestion/recommendation

For an opinion essay, you can also use a
balanced structure (if you struggle to
think of 2 strong arguments)
