explain how it can be materialised. Include the detailed layout of the station?
Long Answer Questions

• 5 Show the designing of a length adjustable mop to clean ceiling fan. Use hand sketches to
illustrate the various stages of the design process.

• 6 In certain situations, users require extra length for their mobile charger cable. But offering extra
cable length becomes an issue while normal usage. Develop a design to effectively solve this
problem. Use necessary hand sketches. Also give the objectives and constraints of your design.

1 What is engineering design? Draw a diagram to represent the engineering design process?

• Engineering design is a systematic, intelligent process in which engineers generate, evaluate, and
specify solutions for devices, systems, or processes whose form(s) and function(s) achievec
lients’objectives and users’ needs while satisfying a specified set of constraints.
• •In other words, engineering design is a thoughtful process for generating plans or schemes for
devices, systems, or processes that attain given objectives while adhering to specified constraints.
1 What is engineering design? Draw a diagram to represent the engineering design process?
2 Explain and differentiate conceptual design and detailed design

• Conceptual design is the stage at which basic questions of form and content
for a design are established (e.g. the nature of the goals of the designed item).

• Detailed design is a stage in the design process after conceptual design(and

after preliminary or embodiment design), when specific details particular
to the design are resolved.
4 State how engineering design is different from other kinds
of design.
3 List the objectives and constrains for designing a school bag for school
students.

6 How to identify the customer requirements of design?

• Q. Show the design process of a wrist
watch going through the various
stages of design process. Use hand
sketches to illustrate the process
• Step 1 Identify the need/problem and constraints
• Need/problem
• N1 To check the time whenever we want
• N2 should be able to carry on wrist all the time
• N3 simple & minimum weight
• N4 must be wrapped around wrist all the time.
• N5 should be able to check current date & time.
• N6 material used
• N7 colour
• Constraints
• C1 must be small size that can fit in the wrist
• C2 time needed must be small but visible
• C3 date & day must be included
• C4 sweat, water & corrosion resistant
• C5 strap must be made of leather
• Step 2 Research the need or problem
• N1,N2 – wrist strap will carry & hold for time
• N3 – analog or digital – quartz, plastic and low weight
steel material can reduce the weight.
• N4 – leather, rubber, plastic strap
• N5 – day & date section can be included in watch face.
• N6 – for watch inner parts, quartz material & steel can be
used, outer body parts can be made out of strong plastic
materials.
• - strap material can be leather.
• C1 = avg wrist size is around 15cm to 18cm so watch face
size will be around 13cm to 14cm in diameter.
• C2 – for better visibility with small size, we can use bright
colour watch face and dark colour needle also, we can
increase the width of the scale.
• C3 – Represent date and time.
• C4 – watch must be completely closed design, corrosion
free material must be used for example, plastic or
corrosion free steel.
• C5 leather strap can be used commonly for cost
reduction.
Step 3 – Develop possible
