Its round, short ears reduce heat loss, and the wide,
short nasal cavity warms the air before it reaches
the cat's lungs.

The cat has strong, short front limbs and longer

hind limbs. They help launch the cat up to 30 feet
(10 meters) in one leap!
BLACK BUCK
Habitat
It inhabits grassy plains and lightly forested areas with perennial water
sources.
Food habits
The blackbuck is a herbivore and grazes on low grasses, occasionally
browsing as well. It prefers sedges, fall witchgrass, mesquite, and live oak
and was occasionally observed browsing on acacia trees in the Cholistan
Desert. Oats and berseem were found to be palatable and nutritious to
captive populations.

The blackbuck is a moderately sized antelope.

It stands up to 74 to 84 cm (29 to 33 in) high at the

shoulder; the head-to-body length is nearly 120 cm
(47 in).
 In the population introduced to Texas, males
weigh 20–57 kg (44–126 lb), an average of 38 kg (84
lb).
LANGUR
Habitat

The entire distribution of all gray langur species

stretches from the Himalayas in the north to Sri Lanka in the
south, and from Bangladesh in the east to Pakistan in the west.
Food habits
The related colobus monkeys of Africa, langurs have large,
complex stomachs adapted to a diet of leaves, fruit, and other
vegetation.

 Leaf monkeys and other langurs are gregarious,

diurnal, and basically arboreal monkeys with long
tails and slender bodies.
 The limbs, hands, and feet are also long and
slender.
OLYMPIC MARMOT
habitat

The Olympic Marmot inhabits subalpine and alpine meadows and

talus slopes at elevations from 920 to 1,990 meters. Its range is
largely contained within Olympic National Park.
Food habit

Olympic marmots are herbivores (folivores). They eat meadow flora

such as avalanche and glacier lilies, heather blossoms, subalpine
lupine, mountain buckwheat, harebells, sedges, and mosses.

MARMOT

The Olympic marmot is a housecat-sized rodent

with a long, bushy tail. Adults can weigh 15 pounds
or more before they enter hibernation in September
or early October. They are often brownish in color,
but may be yellow or tan colored when they emerge
from hibernation in the spring, and almost black in
the fall.
KASHMIR
FLYCATCHER
• Habitat
• It is migratory and winters in the hills of central Sri
Lanka, the Nilgiris, and the Western Ghats of India. The
Kashmir flycatcher breeds in forests at 1800–2400 m in
the Himalayas, often in mixed broad leaved forest with
Perrottetia and Corylus.
• Food habits
• The Kashmir Flycatcher feeds on small insects, which
are caught in flight at a small (up to 6 m) altitude.
Unlike other species of flycatchers, this bird spends
some time on the ground, jumping in search of prey.

Kashmir Flycatcher usually has a dark bill with an

extensive pale/yellowish base to the lower
mandible (the lower half of its bill). However, note
that bill colour can range from apparently dark to
fully pale/yellowish! Adult males often show these
distinctive fully pale/yellowish bills.
