Introduction to Technology Management

Technology management focuses on guiding technology choices to create value for investors through principles of strategy and organization. It deals with three levels of knowledge development: individual ideas, verified scientific experimentation, and physical products/processes. Characteristics that determine a technology's potential include opportunity, appropriability, transferability, and required resources. The role of technology management is to understand a technology's value, identify relevant technologies, continuously develop technology, understand customer value, determine when to invest or withdraw, and plan integrated technological services and products.
