Review:
Solve the rational equation.
[ 2𝑥

( 10 )
2𝑥 1 81
( 10 ) + (10 )= (10 )

2 𝑥 ( 2 ) +1 ( 5 ) =81 ( 5 )
4 𝑥 +5 =405
4 𝑥 = 405 − 5

𝑥 =100
INTEGRATION TO VALUES
EDUCATION:
Using our alphabets, A =1, B = 2
and so on, what word that if you are
going to add that makes 100?
A=

Learning Objective:
After the session, at least
75% of the learners will be
able to solve problems
involving rational equation.
Work Problem:
- is one in which a specific job is done in a certain
length of time when a uniform rate of work is
assumed. Example, if it takes a man 10 hr. to paint
this room, then his rate of work is 1/10 of the room
per hour. To solve a work problem, we multiply
the rate of work by the time to obtain the fractional
part of the work completed. In particular, if the
painter works for 7 hr., then the fractional part of
the work completed is 7/10.
EXAMPLE 1:
One painter can paint a
room in 12 hr. and another
can paint the same room in
10 hr. How long will take to
paint that room if they
SOLUTION:
Let x = the number of hours in the time to paint the room
when they are working together

10 paint the room together.
Uniform Motion Problem:
What is Uniform motion?
- A body is in uniform motion if it moves with
constant speed , that is , the body passes
over equal distance inequal interval of time.
The distance travelled per unit time is called
as the rate or speed of the body. To find the
distance d, travelled in time t, use the
formula.
Uniform Motion Problem:
Distance = rate x time or
d=rxt
EXAMPLE 2:
Niña walks from Poblacion Baroy to
Poblacion Tubod with the rate of 3
miles per hour and returns at the
rate of 2 miles per hour. If the total
time it takes her is 2 hours and 2
minutes, what is the total distance
from Poblacion Baroy to Poblacion
SOLUTION:
let x = be the distance travelled from Poblacion Baroy to
Poblacion Tubod.
or 2.4 miles
(30)
Hence, the distance from
Poblacion Baroy to Poblacion
Tubod is 2.4 miles.
SOLUTION:
In kilometer: =3.86 ≈3.9 km.
The name mentioned in the
problem is Niña, how to
insert ñ using the
keyboard?
Group Activity: Use the rubric for scoring. (15

Problem 1 (Groups 1 and 2)
Earnest can clean and water the
garden in 7 hours. His younger
brother David can do the same job in
8 hours. How long can they do job if
they work together?
Problem 2(Group 3)
Peter uses his bike to go to school with the
rate of 4 kilometers per hour from his
house and returns with the rate of 5
kilometers per hour. If the total time it
takes him is 4 hours and 30 minutes, what
is the total distance from his home to the
school?
ACTIVITY AT HOME:
1. Pipe A can fill a swimming pool in three
hours while pipe B can fill the same pool in
two hours. If pipe A and Pipe B are both
open, how long will they fill the swimming
pool?
2. The denominator of a fraction is 2
more than the numerator. If 1 is
subtracted from both numerator and
denominator, the resulting fraction has a
value of ½. Find the original fraction.
