Ecosystem -
Definition – A complex relationship Between the living organisms,
habitats and resources of a given area.
Organisms are typically dependent on each other and their habitat
for survival.
They can be natural and artificial.
They components are -
1. Abiotic component :
2. Biotic component: They can be feature classified as.
Procedure.
Consumer.
Decomposers.
1. Abiotic component -
Abiotic component of an ecosystem or the non- living
Component of an ecosystem). Include the physical
environment like – soil, Water and air alongwith the
inorganic substance Like- CO2,H2O,P, S, Na, k, Ca, and
other elements present in them.
2. Biotic component -
The biotic component of an ecosystem (or the living component of an
ecosystem) Is a community of organism (Like-Plants and Animals)
which is made up of Many different inter - Dependent populations.
Three types of organism-
1. Procedure.
2. Consumer.
3. Decomposer.
1. Procedures-
They are organisms With Synthesize their own food. All the green
plant are Procedure.
Procedure are autotrophs.
Source of all chemical energy in an ecosystem.
They trap sunlight and store it as Food energy.
( Chemical energy).
2. Consumer-
“Consume means” “eat” .
Organisms which are dependent on others for food. All the Animals
are consumers.
Living things which must eat other living
things for energy
Consumers are : heterotrophs.
Various types of consumers : herbivores,
carnivores, or Omnivores.
Herbivores -
Herbivores are animals that only
eats plants .
these can be flowers, Fruits, nuts,
grass or even food.
Carnivores -
These are animal that eat mainly meat . This includes Insects and
animals .
Some Carnivores are-
1. Felines (lion, tigers, and all cats).
2. Birds of prey (eagles, Hawks, Owls etc).
3. Sharks.
4. Frogs.
5. Spiders.
Omnivores -
Omnivores animals all those that consume both plant and
animal matter for their diet.
[Link]-
They consume (eat) dead plants & animals and decomposes them – reduces
them to simple forms of matter.
Primary decomposers- fungi And bacteria.
Fungi Bacteria
Organism that consume
dead or decaying organisms
And act as cleaners of the
environment.
Decomposers actually “live
on their food” .
Primary decomposers are
fungi and bacteria.
Help return row material and nutrients to the environment.
Food chain -
Food chain -
The sequence of living organisms in a community in which one
organism consumes other organism to transfer “food energy”.
In simple terms ,a list of organisms showing “who eats whom”.
Arrows represent the flow of energy.
Predator -
A Predator eats other animals
in a food chain.
Prey-
Any animal which is hunted
and killed by another animal
for food is prey.
