2) GETTING STARTED IN PPT
HOW TO OPEN Ms. PPT ON A
PERSONAL COMPUTER?
• Click on the start button
• Then choose “All Programs’’
• Next step to select “Ms. Office”
• Under Ms. Office, click on the Ms.
PowerPoint’’
A blank presentation is open on the
screen. According to the requirement,
a person can modify the template for a
presentation and start using the
program.
WHAT IS A POWERPOINT
PRESENTATION?
A combination of various slides depicting a
graphical and visual interpretation of data, to
present information in a more create and
interactive manner is called a PowerPoint
Presentation or PPT
3) SLIDES AND LAYOUTS
a) Slides
A slide refers to a
single page developed
using a presentation
program.
When all the slides of
PowerPoint presented
to a group of people,
where each slide
appears one after the
other, is a set pattern,
this is known as a
PowerPoint Slow
The following elements can be
added to a PPT slide:
Clip Art
Graphs
Tables
Photographs
Charts
Media clips

b) Slide Layout
Multiple options and Layouts are
available based on which a
presentation can be created.
This is available under the
“Home” section and one can
select from the multiple Layout
options provided.
4) Title slide
The title slide layout
is the default Layout
when you open a
blank presentation in
PPT.
It comprises two
text placeholders:
-The first for the Title
presentation
-The second for a
Subtitle
5) selection-alignment-grouping
1. Hold down shift, click the object that you
want to align, and then click the shape “
Format tab”.
2. Click Align > Align selected objects. This is
selected by default. If Align selected objects
is not available in the document, select at
least two objects.
3. Click Align, and then clicks the alignment
that you want.
Grouping shapes lets you rotate, flip,
resize or arrange them together as
though they were a single shape or
object.
Group shapes, picture, or other
objects. Press and hold Ctrl while you
click the shapes, picture, or other
objects to group.
6) Divider slide
If you have different topics or
sections you need to cover,
remember to always separate
those with this slide, it avoids
confusion with your audience.
Example: When you have text on a
slide, PPT automatically puts it in
one column, but you can break it
into multiple columns, but you can
break it into multiple columns .
• Select the text box with items
you wish to convert to columns
• Click the Add or remove columns
button on the ‘’Home tab’’
• Select a column option
Add a section
In normal view, in the thumbnail pane,
click the slide that will be the first slide
of the section
On the ‘’ Home’’ tab, click section
In the section Name box, enter a name
for the section, and then click rename
To add more sections, select a new
starting slide for new section and repeat
steps 2 and 3

Tables can help you to
display detailed information,
such as numerical data in an
easy-to-read format.
You learned that by going to
the ‘’Insert tab’’ and clicking
on the tables command, you
can quickly select the columns
and rows of your table and
add them to your slide.

A chart is a tool you can use to
communicate data graphically,
including a chart in a
presentation allows your
audience to see more meaning
behind the numbers, which
makes it easy to visualize
3- DIAGRAMS
Diagrams in PPT are visual
representation of data or information
that is created using shapes, lines, and
other presentation graphic elements in
Ms. PPT
8) More about graphics
PPT graphics are visual images and
designs that you can use to easily
illustrate the contents of your
presentation.
Its must commonly refers to a grouping
of shapes into an image, also known as
vectors. This includes smart art, which is
a type native PPT graphic with unique
properties.

How to insert video in PPT?
• Open a new or existing presentation in PPT
for the web, Select Insert tab > video > video
form device.
• Select the video you want and select open to
insert in your slide.
• After your video has been inserted and
appears on the slide, you can move, resize,
or apply shape effects to your video.
2- AUDIO
PPT allows you to add audio to your
presentation
For example, you could add background
music to one slide, a sound effect to
another, and even record your own
narration or commentary, you can then
edit the audio to customize it for your
presentation.

Ms. PPT has various themes using which
background color and designs or
textures can be add to a slide.
This makes the presentations more
colorful and attracts the attention of the
people looking at it.

During the slide show, the slides appear
on the screen one after the other. In case
, one wants to add some animations to
the way in which a slide presents itself,
they can refer to the “ Animation
category”

There are four options to apply
effects to.
Choose a slide, select an
object on the slide, then add
your choice of animation. The
effect displays in the slide pan.

To create a master
slide: On the ‘’VIEW’’
tab, click slide
master. In the slide
master view, the slide
master appears at the
top of the thumbnail
pane with related
layouts beneath it.
Click to select the master slide,
then click master layout on the
slide master tab.
14) Extending PowerPoint with
add-ins
• Click file > options, and then click
Add-ins
• In the manage list PowerPoint
Add-ins, and then click go
• In the available Add-ins list,
select the check box next to the
Add-in that you want to add, and
then click choose.
15) Preparing slides for delivery
• Just like other forms of academic
writing, a presentation can be
divided into three parts:
• An introduction detailing the
purpose and structure of the talk
• A body covering the main points
• A conclusion summarizing and
highlighting the significance of
your talk
