LEARNING

ABOUT
ARTIFICIAL
INTELLIGENCE
A Simple Guide
In this presentation, we will
learn about:
• Artificial Intelligence (AI)
• It’s history
• How it’s used
• What it will do in the future

It’s important to know about AI because it’s

changing the way we live and work.
What is AI?

• AI is when machines are made to think and

learn like humans. They can do things like:
o See and understand pictures.
o Recognize and respond to voices.
o Make decisions.
History of AI
• AI started in the 1950s with people like
Alan Turing and John McCarthy.
• AI got better because technology improved,
and we have more data for it to learn from.
This helps AI make smarter decisions.
• If we know how AI started, we can
understand how it works now. This helps
explain why AI can do more things today.
Types of AI

1. Narrow AI: (Weak AI)

Description: Narrow AI is designed to perform

a single task or a set of related tasks. It is not
capable of generalizing beyond its specific
function.
Examples: Virtual Assistants (Siri, Alexa),
Netflix Recommendations, Image Recognition
Systems.
Types of AI

2. General AI: (Strong AI)

Description: General AI would have the ability

to understand, learn, and apply intelligence
to any task like a human. This type of AI does
not yet exist.
Examples: Currently, General AI does not
exist, but it is the ultimate goal of AI
research.
Types of AI

3. Artificial Superintelligence (ASI)

Description: This AI would be much smarter

than humans in every field, from creativity to
problem-solving (this is still science fiction).

Examples: ASI is still in the realm of science

fiction, often explored in movies and books
(like HAL 9000 in 2001: A Space Odyssey).
What is Machine
Learning?
Definition: Machine learning is how AI learns
from data, similar to how we learn from
experience.
Example: Imagine AI like a student
who studies by reviewing lots of
information (data) and gets better at
answering questions.
Machine Learning
Explained
Machine Learning (ML) is a part of AI. It helps computers
use data to learn and predict things.
There are different ways for machines to
learn:
• Supervised Learning: The
computer is given examples to
learn from.

There are different ways for machines to
learn:
• Unsupervised Learning: The
computer looks for patterns by
itself.

There are different ways for machines to
learn:
• Reinforcement Learning: The
computer tries different things and
learns by getting rewards or
penalties."

There are different ways for machines to
learn:
• Self-Supervised Learning: The
computer learns by creating its
own tasks and checking if it’s
right, finding patterns without
human labels.
Deep Learning
Overview
• Deep learning is a type of machine learning that
uses artificial neutral networks (like the brain)
to understand data.
• It helps AI do things like recognize faces,
understand language, and even drive cars.

• In short, while ANNs mimic some aspects of
the brain’s structure and learning patterns,
they are still very simplified models and lack
the full capabilities and complexity of the
human brain.
Ethical
Considerations
• As AI gets more powerful, we need to think
about important issues like:
o Privacy: How is our data used?
o Bias: Can AI make unfair decisions?
o Jobs: Will AI take jobs away from people?
Future of AI
• In the future, AI will get even better. We may
see AI in:
o Quantum Computing: Super-powerful
computers that can solve hard problems.
o Augmented Reality: AI will help us
interact with the world in new ways.
