■ Values are powerful but silent force affecting human


behaviour .
■ Values are stable long lasting beliefs about what is
important to an individual .
■ Values are very important to the study of organisational
behaviour , because values have important impact on the
perception, attitude , needs and motives of the people at
work.
Value = Degree of Importance
of Something
Personal value
Important for Individual well being. Examples of personal values – self-respect,
comfortable life, freedom etc.

Social value
Society can also inculcate a lot of values in people.

Family value
Values are imbibed by children by observing what parents do (and not just what
parents say).

Cultural value
Culture provides specific models for ways of behaving, feeling, thinking, and
communicating.

beloved fixture in the community for generations to come.
