CHAPTER ONE
 INTRODUCTION
 Decision making is defined as a rational choice among alternatives. Decision making is a universal, and parts of
all managers job

 Decision making is belied to be determining factor in the success full achievement of common organization goal.

 Decision making is subjective or it may defer from person to person. It depends on the conceptual skill that
managers has also Quality of decision made is related to his /her skill of management

 Decision making is not a separate, isolated function of management but a common core to the other functions

 The process of decision making is a delicate and complicated procedure that requires organization to put a lot of
thought and consideration
 The best decisions making is a rational and makes consistent value maximizing choice with
specific constraints
 Organizational decision making is the process by which one or more organizational units
make a decision on behalf of the organization
 It is well organized processes for producing are more likely generate better decisions and as a
result improve their productivity.
 Managers at all levels of the organization are engaged in decision making
 Organisational decisions do not relate to personal purposes
 that individuals make decisions based on their own values and beliefs and weather something
is appropriate or not whereas organizations have different stakeholders and different sets of
values that are in appropriated in their process of decision making.
 Statement of problem
 The common problem of decision making is resources, personnel, money and dependency
 Decision making process can be influenced by decision making strategies, willingness of
managers to accept and the managers of decision making
 and also a state of conflict exists between functional and project managers . .
 mainly the statement of the problem consists of three important [Link] are;

 Depends on the above problem in mind the following basic research questions are raised

 What are the major factors affecting a practice of decision making?

 What type of measurement used by the organization to improve factor affecting decision
making practice?
 What type of decision making practice in which administrative manager perform his
activity?
 General objectives
 The general objectives of the study is to assess decision making practice in shire town
administration municipality.

 Specific objective
 To identity the major factors that affect the decision making practice in shire town
administration municipality.
 To identify the type of measurement used by the organization to improve factor affecting
decision making practice.
 To know the type of decision making practice used by the Manucipality manager to perform
his activity.
 Significance of the study
The study would have the following significances:

 The primary significance of this report is that it would provide fresh reference on the subject
that other may use in their research for another organization.
 Managers and workers in shire town administration Manicipality can be effective from the
study.
 It tends to the way decisions has been existed the aforementioned bodies can adjust their
decision making habit along with finding of the study.
 The role of shire town administration Manicipality that is increase awareness of decision
making in all workers of the manucipality this is important for the next generation.
 Under the study of decision making is significance role in the regional, zonal and Kebele
level can use the finding of the recruitment purpose and to upgrade decision making ability
of workers by decision makers.
 It helps to the researcher for experience of the community.

 It will be guide for another research of the people


 Scope of the study
 The study was limited to examine the decision making practice in the shire town
administration Municipality mainly focused on;
 decision making practice,
 decision making processes
 decision making practice and types of decision making
 Limitation of the study
The following limitations have created to obstacle in manucipality:-
Financial problem.
Computer access problem.
Unwillingness of respondents to know their duties and responsibilities.
Time limitation to facilitate the decision making in the Municipality
CHAPTER THREE
 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
 Research design
 The researcher was used descriptive type of research design because of such type of research design is marked by the
prior formulation of specific research problem and to obtain complete and adequate information.

 Qualitative and quantitative research approach also used on this study,

 Qualitative research approach is amounts of data gathering method which is viewed as sensitizing ideas or terms that
enhance our understanding.

 The quantitative data was analyzed through descriptive statically tools like closed ended questionnaires from the
managers.
 Sources of data
o Both primary and Secondary data were used in this study;

 primary data collected through questionnaires


 the secondary sources of data of the study gathered through books, newspapers and
documentary records of personal departments,can also help the researcher to collect
the relevant information for the study,

 Target population
 In this study, the researcher would select the experts at the city municipality 81
Employees selected by random sampling technique.
 Sample Technique and sample size
 Widely the many types of sampling used in research are , the one the researcher was
preferred in this particular study for sampling was simple random sampling
technique(because of ) in which out of 429 total populations 81 employees would be
selected.
 To determine the sample size the researcher use formula, because of the most popular
and it is easy to determine or calculate sample size.
 n= N/1+N(e)2
. Data collection instrument
 Questionnaires :-to collect standardized data from a large number of respondants
(e.g municipal staff,council member,community member) about their involvement in
the decision making
 Interviews with Key Informants
 Face-to-face interviews were conducted with key informants to gather detailed,in depth

insight from individual who have significant knowledge or experience with the decision
making process in the municipulity

 Objective of the Study To assess decision-making practices among managers
and employees using questionnaires and analyze challenges and effectiveness in
the municipality.

 56.79% Male, 43.21% Female
 Majority aged 36–41 (56.79%)85.19% hold Diploma,
 14.82% Degree70.37% have over 10 years’ experience

Retain experienced decision-makers to preserve continuity and knowledge.
Future studies are recommended to explore broader and alternative solutions in decision-
making.
