Research Report
-refers to a document that
systematically, coherently, and
methodologically presents the
research work in written form
Aim of a Research Report
To write clearly and concisely about your
research topic so that the reader can
easily understand the purpose and
results of your
research.
Components of a
Research Report
TITLE
TITLE
The title of a research report is a concise and
clear description of the main topic or focus of
the study. It should give readers an immediate
understanding of the research subject and
indicate the scope of the study.
ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT
The abstract is a brief summary of the
research report, usually no longer than 250-300
words. It provides an overview of the purpose,
methods, key findings, and conclusions of the
study. The abstract allows readers to quickly
grasp the essence of the research without
reading the entire report.
INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
The introduction provides the background
information necessary for understanding the
research problem. It outlines the research
question or hypothesis, explains the significance
of the study, and presents the objectives or
aims of the research.
METHODOLOGY
METHODOLOGY
The methodology section explains how the
research was conducted. This section provides
enough detail for others to replicate the study,
if necessary. It also addresses the procedures
followed to ensure validity and reliability
RESULTS
RESULTS
This section should be objective, presenting
the data without interpretation or analysis. It
summarizes the raw data collected and
indicates whether or not the research
hypothesis was supported.
DISCUSSION
DISCUSSION
This is where the researcher connects the
findings to the original research question and the
broader context. The discussion includes an
analysis of whether the results support or
contradict existing literature, the implications of
the findings, and any limitations of the study.
CONCLUSION
CONCLUSION
The conclusion summarizes the main findings of
the study and restates the significance of the
research. It may briefly revisit the research
question and discuss the overall impact of the
results. The conclusion often provides final
thoughts on the study's contribution to the field
and suggests potential directions for future
research.
REFERENCES
REFERENCES
The references section lists all the sources
cited in the research report. This includes
books, articles, websites, and other materials
referenced during the study. The references
should follow a specific citation style and
provide full bibliographic details, allowing
readers to locate the sources themselves.

APPLICATION
Directions: Below are jumbled excerpts of a
sample research report. Read and analyze
each item and identify which component of a
research report each excerpt corresponds to.
Arrange the excerpts accordingly using the
numbers 1-5.
1. "In this section, we discuss the
implications of the findings in relation to
previous research. We also identify any
limitations of the study and suggest areas
for future research."
2."The results show a significant
correlation between the number of
hours of sleep and grade point average
(GPA) in students. Detailed data are
presented in the following tables."
3. "This section describes the research
design, sampling methods, and the
statistical tools used to analyze the
collected data. It also explains the
procedures followed during the study."
4. "All references cited in this study
are listed in this section. These
sources provide support for the
theories and data discussed
throughout the research.”
5. "The study aims to investigate the
relationship between sleep patterns
and academic performance in college
students. It presents a review of
existing literature on sleep and its
effects on cognitive functions."
Direction: Choose the best answer to each number.
1. What is the primary purpose of the Title in a
research report?

impact of climate change on urban ecosystems,
particularly focusing on less-studied regions. In
which section of the research report is Mark
suggesting future studies?
a) Literature Review b) Results
