Technical Issues with

VB wheel set during SS-I


Issues with Control Arm Bush
• No clear instruction to dismount control arm bush in SS-I of VB Train Set 2.0 coaches.
• But without dismounting of Control arm bush, the following maintenance criterion cannot be
met which are crucial during maintenance:
a) Checking of Bearing particulars.(Make, Date of Mfg., Serial No.)
b) Checking of grease oozing from backside.
c) Checking of Rear cover condition.
d) Checking of condition of sealing o ring.
e) Inspection of CTRB for cup cracks or other defects.
f) Checking of any abnormal bearing condition like grease seal backside damage.
g) Checking of mounted end play.
h) Checking of Backing Ring.

Pre-turning defects/Issues: Wheel gauge, radial & axial run-out is beyond


permissible limits. Axle also found to be out of balance. Turning could not be done due to
wheel gauge difference of 4.9 mm, (i.e.1601.9 mm – 1597.0 mm)

• Rough turned axles (02 Nos. for MC & 02 Nos. for TC) received from
ICF/Chennai (Manufactured at RWF/YNK) on assistance don’t have the
Counter Bore Φ45mm
